I seem to have a problem with the tendons in my forearm. On any bicep exercise they really hurt, as soon as I put the weight down after then it kills, I mean badly. I've tried not working on biceps for a few weeks, but came back to do a preacher curl (after doing triceps.... no problem) an WOOOOOOOOW shit. People have suggested NSAIDS such as Voltarol (Diclofenic Acid) or Bufen. This is terrible, I can't work the biceps at all. If anyone has had similiar problems and / or knows of any soloutions (and I mean ANY) then I'd really appreciate some input. ------------------

You could use Deep Heat spray but it isn't too effective. It takes away some pain but is only temporarily. I had a similar problem and I cut down on my bicep routine. Trained less intense and less weight but focussing on the movement and I had a burst of new growth. Can't think of anything else.

I pulled something there also .I beleive deadlifting .It is only on my underhand grip arm. The pain went away after 2 months of no bicep training and very moderate back work.I had to really pick with excersices I could do. Recently I went back to deadlifting and wham the pain is back.

Things to staw away from for foreamr tendonitus: Straight Bar Curls EZ Bar Curls (maybe) Close Grip Bench Heavy Weighted Dips I had a bad case of the forearms, it will hurt still but when it goes away and as long as you staw away from the lifts that aggrevate it you will be cool. It can get really painful at times, My bicep routine had to change drastically most of it is dumbell work now. ------------------ For a good time click here: Search and Profiles (300Kleens Board)

HOLY SHIT! It has happened to someone else. I have been dealing with a bad left bicept tendon for 8 months now. It is a pain that keeps me from curling the damn bar itself. The pain is more in the forearm than the bicept. I had an MRI which showed NO damage, then a cortizone shot, which helped for about 2 weeks, but as I sit here, the fucker still hurts. I am not sure what to do. The doctor said he can explore to find the damage. YUK. Tell me exactly where it hurts on you.

I can guarantee its the same place, it happens often. If your typing at a desk its basically the part of your forearms resting on the desk to the outsides. Its not rare. Stay away from those lifts for sure, and dont do anymore painkillers or cortisone it won't help you in the long run - you need to change your routine. It will take about 2-3 weeks to feel better and when it does dont start doing those lifts again otherwise the same thing will happen. Advil in higher dosages will help during the next 3 weeks, I used to take 6 an hour before each workout. It go so bad I couldnt lift a 5# plate without wincing. ------------------ For a good time click here: Search and Profiles (300Kleens Board)

quote: Yes, try Diclofenic - injectable 'cose unguent is weak and won't help you. Inject 3cc of 2.5% solution twice a day (6cc total). For 1 week or even 2... It hepls!

Slopain has nailed the excercises that aggravate this condition. Heavy straight bar curls is what got me. I fought this battle for a year, and still get pain occasionally. Stupid as it sounds, DMSO rubbed on under elbow/forearm wraps allowed me to start training bi's again - real light, high rep stuff for a long time. DMSO is a powerful, but nasty ass, anti inflammatory. My horse racing friends suggested I try this. They use it extensively on the horses, even injecting the joints prior to a race. I wouldn't suggest that of course - just rub the crap on. Hell, grind up some fina to mix in.

they say that doing low pulley curls will minimize tendon pain.

Okay I'll add my name to this list too. I got the same thing. I've been fighting mine for two years now. I stoped lifting all together for four months but as soon as I began lifting it came right back. Currently I can't lift biceps at all and can't do much for back either. It's the pulling exersize's that hurt the worse. I can work Chest,Triceps and Shoulders fine except for upright rows or heavy Flys. This really SUCKS and I've been thinking I may have to through in the towel sooner or later. I tried everything. I was taking so much anti-inflamitories I thought I might ruin my kidneys. I went to Physcial Therapy. The only thing I did find that helped somewhat was deep tissue massage. I mean deep too. The kind where you need something to bite on cuz it hurts to bad. 30 minutes per arm. This does help but the problem is everytime I want to go back to biceps it comes right back again. I wish I had better news and I sure hope that you have better luck than I have.

switch to dumbell exercises.. my brother and I have the same damn problem, bad muscle insetions points, = bad genetics for biceps. switching to only dumbell exercises will clear that mess right up if it's the same problem that we have...

hey, i had that problem before also. mine were forearm splints, like shin splints. they finally went away, but yours may not be this problem. the way i would help mine, is when i would set the bar down, i woud squeeze tightly on the bar, and then take the other hand and squeeze tightly on the inflamed area. i would then let go of the bar, and slowly let go of my arm. this almost totally got rid of the pain until it finally just healed on its own, but it let me continue to do my workout. if yours is like mine, it just takes a lot of time for it to heal, and doing that on my workout enabled me to keep doing what i needed to do. hope that helps. prince

Julez I have one word for you - accupuncture! I had inflammation in my left forearm and couldn't pull on anything and back and bis were out of the question. I tried rest that didn't work and was down to 2 options 1) cortisone shots or accupuncture. I have now had 3 easy treatments and the problem is gone completely. I am absolutely amazed as I was sceptical also but no joke it worked. Now whether your problem can be treated with this is another question, I'm not a doctor but it sounds like you had what I had and this is what I advise. It also applies to just about any other areas of the body that are giving you problems. He also gave me some stretches to do and a heating pad to use twice a day. Good luck I feel for you! |
