They hurt while I'm going them, especially front squats, but they feel ok a couple seconds after I finish the set. Just wondering if this is normal...

No it should not hurt.

You may be putting too much weight on the balls of your fet when squating the weight up. You should place most of the weight on the heels of your feet.

Front squats use more front quads than hamtring si it may also have to do with putting pressure on different muscles (but there should be no pain since pain usually indicates bone-to-bone contact).

If there is a mirror where you can see your side profile, check to make sure that when you are at the bottom portion of the movement your knees don't extend past your toes. That places lots of unneeded stress on your knees and other related joints, etc. in the movement.

it should definitely not hurt. That's how you could permanently injure your knees. I used to have the same problem, but I changed my foot positioning on the leg press and i don't do front squats anymore.
