I'm going to have gyno surgery ASAP. The problem is, I just got on this new insurance plan, and it says if there is a pre-existing condition it will not cover the expenses. By reading the forms, it looks like my insurance will not cover the surgery. Is there any kind of trick to the trade or a way to fill out the forms to get the insurance to cover the expenses?

I would think you shouldn't mention it as a pre-existing med condition.

Also, do not let your doc know it came from use of AS.

I'm pretty sure the insurance people know something of this nature didn't pop up in a couple of days though. But I could be wrong. They may not know a damn thing about gyno.

They definitely won't know if you don't tell them. What could they prove?

Definatley dont put gyno down as a pre existing condition.I work as a claims assessor myself, generally when the claim for surgery comes in, there's a section on the claim form the doc fills out asking how long the condition has been present. If your normal doc fills out the form and is aware of your condition, they'll know its pre-existing.My advise is don't tell them, and sit your waiting period out for new conditions.A few months after the waiting period is up, go to a new doc, tell him its only developed with the past few weeks, and you don't take steroids.Make sure you've been off A.S.long enough for it not to show up on a blood test.It could then be attributed to a hormonal problem, and shouldn't raise too much attention when submitted.

most insurances define preexisting as any condition that you have previously sought medical treatment for or any condition that would cause a reasonable person to seek treatment. In other words if you break your leg you can't wait 2 weeks for your insurance coverage to begin to go to the hospital. Just claim that you noticed the gyno after your coverage began. Even then they will still probably decline it because its cosmetic. Trust me I've had 2 insurance companies decline to pay for it and I'm currently fighting with another one.
