No X-man, Gastrointestinal meds do not affect muscle growth. The reason why antibiotics affect muscle growth(these are broad spectrum antibiotics by the way) is that they decrease protein synthesis. Bacteria are therefore not able to muliply so to speak. Gastrointestinal acid release is mediated by the histamine receptors, which have no effect on protein synthesis. The exception being the H2 antagonists(e.g. Ketotifen), which have been found to up-regulate B2 adrenoreceptors,after the usage of beta-agonists such as Clenbuterol. no worries there. i am on prilosec and zantac now for 4 years and have not had any problems, evoling from the use of AS. |
