I'm 21 years old, and little indecisive of what I want to do the rest of my life. I got lucky getting a part time job during high school working with lasers and so on. Two years later I was moved to our Programming Dept.(full-time) which I have been doing for a year, its pretty good but I just don't know if I'll be making $$$$ in the future working with software like Autocad and Pro-Engineer. Well I was reading some magazine where they said that Fitness Instructors make 60-80k a year, damn thats some pretty good money to do this and stay healthy! Just wondering if this is true and what exactly do you have to do to become one! PS. I broke the 40k barrier last year just looking to make more, I know ya'll bros understand how that goes. The POTENTIAL to make good money is there, however, I think far too many barely make enough to live. My part time personal training business, yeilds about $3800 a month, for about 60 hours of phone and gym work per month. Not too bad, but I know of several guys who aren't doing well in thier realted area's. Basicly, it's like trying to become rich by being a bodybuilder...not gunna happen. Education is extremely important...as this is will not be my livelyhood all my life. Basicly, it's okay part time, but look for something else in the mean time.

no, 60 hours a month. If you want to be taken seriously, a 2 year degree in something health related, and a few certifications that require you to pass a written exam after 8-12 weeks of classes. You can get cheap certifications, but most people will just laugh at you if you put them on your application, because you just basicly send away for them. A good way to judge the value of the certification is in the test. If it's multiple choice...not so good...written - excellent. Also, ask around your gym to see where the PT'ers got certified if they even did.
