What does the board think? Can you really grow using a 2 day a week HIT workout or is a five day split better.

HIT = 2 x a week, 1-2 sets 8 reps. Bench, squat, and deads, + some assistance sets.

5Day = 1 or 2 muscles per day split the body up so you can fit in the whole bosy once a week. 2-3 sets @ 4-6 reps.

I really don't see how you could handle doing a complete body workout in 2 days. That's a lot of stuff to be doing. I've tried to cram everything in 3 days, and I can't truly push all my body parts to the limit effectively like I could on a 4 day per week workout schedule. If you just want a slight pump and use light weight, you can do all that in 2 days, but you're not going to truly work all your body parts to failure.

If 2 days is all the time you got, it's definately better than nothing. You can easily maintain your gains that way, but true growth would be hard since your body would be repairing alot of body parts instead of the usual 1 or 2 body parts per day during a 4 day a week workout. With a 2 day week workout done that way, your recovery time isn't going to be that great. Plus, I think you would really overtrain and get to tired to even go back to the gym.

I know this: it is better than nothing but you better train like a madman if you are going to get that much rest. 90% of gym members (consistent goers) are over trained, Mike Mentzer swears by it!
I think some where in between Mentzer's routine and probody builders routine is the happy productive medium.

To hell with Mentzer and HIT. Find out what works best for you. Usually 3, 4, or 5 days a week depending on cycle and genetics.

one concern with super-low volume workouts is if you have a slower metabolism, you have to watch your diet EVEN CLOSER than usual, since the "workout" takes very little energy
