I've been wondering lately why I look like I weigh 10-20lbs more than I actually do.

Like the other day one of my friends that doesn't lift and is like 1-2 inches shorter than I am hops on the scale and we're the same weight. He's like, "you look like you should way more than I do."

I've had that same reaction a few other times also when I tell someone how much I weigh. "You only weigh...(wutever my current weight is)!"

I have a few guesses why this might be, and hopefully someone can clear this up for me.

1) My legs aren't proportionate to my upper body so I look heavier than I am.

2) People that are really skinny to begin with that put on muscle have a more drastic looking appearance than others who are larger to begin with

3) Bone density might play a role. Some people have larger or denser bones which weigh more.

4) Some people hold more water than others which gives a heavier appearance.

If anyone knows the answer to this I would appreciate it. It gets kinna frustrating when I lift, and eat my ass off, only to weigh as much as some of the lazy ass friends I have that drink and smoke and could care less. I guess how much you weigh isn't really that important but I still need to figure this out. thanks lates

Numbers 1 and 3 are the main reasons why you look the way you do.

Number depends on the person and number 4 depends on the person too.

I usually get "you don't look like you weigh that much." I think mine is a little worse. I get strong, but guys my same strenght usually have 20-40 lbs on me.

Well I have to agree people are shocked when I tell them I'm 260 lbs, they just can't believe it. I have a medium build with very responsive muscles which give me great size everywhere it doesn't matter. Arm size a shoulder size is what most people look at first and I have pathetic arms that just don't grow. Hell.... I'd rather have punny legs than punny arms.

Thanks 2thick. Zeacky I think your right that people tend to notice shoulders and arm size first. I have pretty broad shoulders for my frame so maybe that is another reason.
