What is the best way to get my gear through the airport (from florida to new york)? Does anyone know if airports check the luggage that you check in? Do they run those bags through an x-ray and metal detector?     | ||

hey codawg,i work for a major airline and we don/t xray domestic bags.make sure you check in the bag with the gear because if you carry it with you when you go thru security if they see anything that looks funny they might tell you to open your bag,so just check it in and you/ll have no problems.one word of advice though make sure it/s protected because the ramp guys don/t have any regards toward your bag,it might get tossed around during loading. | ||

Makes me feel comfortable flying knowing bags aren't checked for bombs? You sure they don't run em thru a machine? Agree though luggage is best bet. | ||

they probably don't scan luggage. i mean, for the most part, people won't blow up the plane while they're on it. i think they are more concerned with people bring guns on instead. | ||

yeah i/m sure that airlines don/t xray domestic,i work for an airline so i deal with bags first hand.they don/t ven xray intl bags except for the high risk countries such has israel.all of our tel aviv bags have to go thru the xray and then every bag is matched with the passenger once they board,but most of the countries we just match the bags to the passenger on board.so the best way to carry gear domestic is to check it in just make sure it/s protected so it doesn/t get broken. |
