I am currently around 9-10% and contemplating entering a show in April. I was just wondering what some of you keep yourselves at year round without a show coming up. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

If I'm bulking I don't like to get above 12%. I'm normally around 10%. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

les, no offense bad answer. as you diet down its much harder to keep size when you have to loose so much weight and bodyfat. My high this year was 10% and i am currently at 8% and competed at 2.5% (though next time will try 3-4%). The guru's all say for a contest you need to start no higher than 12% and to me thats very accurate ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I agree with Flexed1. As a female I freak out when going over 15% but it is also less socially acceptable for women to be bit on the pudgy side. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

bros truth is I want to actually do something in this sport besides win slue ribbons at the oke-doke contest in the southern lower regional whatever..You ever see dorian, priest, and nasser in a bulking cycle??..they look like shit..but, that is the key to maximizing the drugs you are using and achieve the most mass possible..though your goals may be different..who cares about being over 12%bf??..bodybuilding per se is not about health or being in the best shape alll year round,, it is about who looks the best on that particular day. period. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Sorry Flexed1 but you are not 2.5 percent bodyfat. Where the hell did u get that measurement? If it was from anything besides underwater weighing, then you're full of shit with that number. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Firstly, thanks Doc J, we'll see. Secondly, to those guys who think that going up to 20% is necessary, I think you are a little off base. I have been doing this bb thing for almost 20 years and the leaner I am (10-15%) the better the gains I have. Thirdly, the guys like Lee and Nasser are more bloated than fat. I personally lived with a USA contender and trained with Franco S. and those guys never let their b/f get too far above 15%, Primarily because as they put it "why bother, you are going to diet away too much muscle if you hit a show too quickly". In other words why take 5 months to do what 2.5-3 will take care of just as effectively. ------------------ [This message has been edited by jersey boy (edited January 29, 2001).] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The only time I can really get over 12% is when I'm totally off gear and bulking. I mean, I don't eat donuts, pizza, and icecream everyday while bulking, but I have a high metabolism. I can't get much higher than 12% while on a bulking cycle. If I'm REALLY, REALLY bloated then OK. [This message has been edited by PerfectRep (edited January 29, 2001).] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Blond myth look at my picture on Johnny O's sight. I love folks like you who attack people. Fuck you. And les i to am hardcore just don't care to get hat high in bodyfat. You say look at dorian and lee both of who are huge. Thats cool its just a difference. I prefer Shawn Ray, Lee Labrada, both who don't go as high. Does not mean there any less hard core. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The_Blond_Myth: I am sure flexed1 is not lying. He most likely uses a caliper for his bodyfat test like most of us do. On the caliper 3% bodyfat is probably about 6% bodyfat in real life. Most bodybuilders go by the caliper and aim for 3-4% max for a contest. I was 5% on the calipers last year and way to fat for my contest. Anyway the fatest I have ever been is 14% on the calipers 7 sites. That was last week. I don't feel anybody should go over 12% bodyfat off season. I am personally disgusted with myself and promise that I won't go over 10% bodyfat again. The pros don't go to 20% bodyfat. They go up to 10-12% but with all the water retention it looks like more. Think about it at 300lbs @ 20% bodyfat that is 60lbs of fat. This would equal to about 247lbs @ 3% bodyfat. I doubt these guys lose 53lbs of fat for a contest. Some lose lots of weight but it's water weight not fat. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
