(steroid use and risk for heroin dependence) Steroid users now have something else to worry about besides the legion of unpleasant and dangerous physical effects associated with steroids. Researchers at McLean Hospital and the Sunrise House addiction treatment facility in northern New Jersey suggest that steroid use could be a gateway to heroin dependence. About one-tenth of Sunrise House's male patients who were admitted for heroin dependence last year had a history of steroid use. This is an asinine statement to publish, although when these guys say there 'steroid' dealer introduced em to heroin is was probably nubain. i could see how not being afraid of i.m. injections may correlate with someone attempting an i.v. injection........but this is an absurd statement for a scientist to publish! I was involved in that test group. With the amount of heroin and crack I use, I need steriods to keep the weight on. My current cycle is 750mg test, 50 mg d-ball, 600mg eq, to stay at 135 #. I am 6'5. God I need to get off the roids! | ||

I would say its true. first you start with steroids then it becomes painful to train sometimes cause your so juiced and pumped so you resort to percocet,vicodin, then nubain but then you realize heroin is cheaper and works just as well. Also remember they base their info on extreme cases but it does happen. ------------------  | ||

Its not the steroids that turn you on to heroin, its the drug dealer. Its a gateway effect only it isn't the drug. As long as AAS are illegal, this is going to happen. AAS use per se has nothing to do with heroin use, they know that, but the media would never come out and say that current govt policies are turning some steroid users into hard core drugs users. There is an rumor floating around the BB world that the withdrawl of a high placing athlete at this years Mr. Olympia was an overdose of an experiment with Heroin not the result of a bacterial infection from drinking water in a foreign country that was led to believe. |
