Former NPC Middleweight champion David Dearth tore both quads while leg pressing with 1,000 pounds at a gym in his hometown, Canton, Ohio. Dearth, who underwent surgery shortly after the mishap, was training with hopes of making a comeback. Nineteen ninety-four National champ Paul Quadzilla DeMayo is also on the comeback trail after moving from Malden, Massachusetts, to Aliso Viejo, California, the Southern California town where IFBB stars Jay Cutler and Dennis Newman reside. Quadzilla is reportedly weighing around 275 pounds and is anxious to resume his pro career. He competed in only one pro show, the 95 Mr. Olympia, before domestic violence problems led to a one-year incarceration. Flex Wheeler may be back in the Pro IRONMAN on February 17. Thats according to some sources, although others say the five-time IM winner is still bothered by colitis and his only show this year will be the Mr. Olympia in October. Ali Malla, 48, says hes in the best shape of his life and will definitely be on stage at the IRONMAN.
