I've been keeping one for years. Makes the workouts go smoother and quicker. No guessing on how much weight you used last time versus this time. How was the equipment setup (i.e. seat settings on machines like leg extensions, leg curls, etc...). How many reps were performed.

Takes alot of the guess work out. Let's me focus on the task at hand. I also see how much stronger i'm getting each time.

Since day one. Also keep a diet journal...since day one. Write down every workout and every meal everyday.

I have for a couple of months now.
It helps quite a bit. You can see how much you have gone up (or sometimes down) on weight and/or reps.

I have for about six months now, and some people at my gym still make fun of me for it. They are just jealous bitches though, in my opinion . I love to keep a log, because I can chart my progress & keep track of what exercises & reps I do in certain phases.
