It's really a bitch ya know. I have been planning and planning, and getting all this advice for this contest. Getting all the food together, planning the diet, training schedule, etc, and now i have to stop it all. I don't know if anyone knows, but I'm building a house right now, and getting married this summer. So, hey, i didn't think that my working out and dieting for this show would interfere. How wrong was I. I found out today that we will be closing on our house the week of my show! Probably either on Thursday or Friday. That is one blow. I have so many things i have to do with the house....appointments for picking out appliances, decorator bullshit, hardwood floor bullshit, etc. I practically have something new to do with it 2-3 times a damn week. Plus, I am helping my fiance with the wedding, and we have to meet with the pastor soon, and do a ton more stuff with it. I don't know.
I know that i am in good shape for this contest, but i just don't see myself being at my best personal shape with all this stuff going on. I am not a fucking quitter, and I am one dedicated person, but some things just have to come first i guess. I will still train my ass off as much as possible, but the dieting, preparation, posing routine, etc, i just don't think im going to have time for.
I plan on competing in 2002 for the Mr. Alabama contest, and i will have a years worth of training for it. I hope that nobody is upset because of all the help they have given me. This is something I just cannot avoid. It sucks big time, because i was so looking forward to this contest. It almost makes me want to cry because i can't fucking do it anymore, but i won't be able to put 100% into it and if i can't do that, then Im just not doing it.

I understand. My contest last year pretty much cost me a relationship. It was my main priority and women don't want to hear that. Plus, I was in a zone the whole time tending to my needs and not hers. You can't have distractions and do your best.

Well I think its a good choice as well Thw wife comes first "future wife" before anything allways.
And the your house thats alot of fucking work, competition is hard enough to prepare for without all that extra bagage.

Keep trainning hard And you will be ready for your next one.

You know, Im almost to the point where im gonna say FUCK IT, and just give it all i have and do what i have to do to compete. DAMNIT I WANT TO COMPETE!! I have so much shit going on in my life, though! DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This is such bullshit. Total bullshit. I mean, i know my body is in good shape, and i know i can try to make time to do the posing. I hope i can make time. Why haven't i thought about this before. What was i thinking! I knew that i was building a house and getting married, but i never in a million years thought it would get in the way of my bodybuilding.

This is so depressing. I want this so bad, but I just know that I am not going to be able to do it. My fiance is behind me in whatever I do. She is that kind of person. She knows how dedicated I am. Hell, shes my freaking workout partner, so she is into it as much as I am. But, I can always compete ya know. I only build a house and get married once, and I need to put all my effort into this. I think im making the right decision. I hope i am at least.

Thanks BigJay, Boulder, and Greenhouse. I appreciate your support on this. It's hard as hell to just "quit" when you know your not a quitter. Depressing as hell, but i will get over it. Just keep training, and try to keep myself around 200-210 or so. Hey, i guess one good thing is that im still on my cycle of Aratest, Deca, Winny, Clen, & ECA! At least i don't have to give this up!

I tell you what Hardcore4Evr, I would assume that your lady is very understanding as it is. There will be other contests, not other women that you are serious enough, as you are at this point. Granted, this is all coming from a "NEWLY 21yr old", but you have made a perfect "non-selfious" sacrifice and I am sure that your girl appreciates that, right? I can tell that she feels bad about you making this sacrifice. I am just a good judge of cheractor. I think?

I think, in my own opinoin this says a lot about you, and what you really value in life...

Good Luck with your house,(seriously, if ou need any help with interior design, my MOM is highly recomended. And I will charge you nothing, except a $3000 bulking cycle. lol)..>

Have a good weekend,
greener

Guys, thanks again for the support with this. I am feeling a lot better about the decision i have made, and i believe its going to workout for the best. Greenhouse, ill keep your mom in mind, but you may have to come down on that bulk price a bit. Lol....

I plan on staying on the current cycle that i am on, for another 5 weeks. That will total it out for 8. Ill try and gain about 10 more pounds and maybe get to 215, if im lucky. Then i wanna concentrate on shedding a little bulk, and get down to around 195-200 for the summer. Hey, i wanna look good on my honeymoon! Probably going to the bahamas.
Then this fall/winter, i plan on bulking back up and training my ass off for next years Alabama. So, its not that bad. Only gives me more time to mature my muscle and build a better body.

Take the time for whats "really" important now. That trophy won't mean shit when your life is falling apart around it, but the one you win next year when you go into the Mr. Alabama bigger, harder, & more vascular will mean that much more to you. Do Whats Right!

Yeah, you are right guys. My life with my fiance is more important than this, and it took me a little while to realize it, but now i have. I am actually excited that i have no more stress with all this on my shoulders! I can concentrate on what matters the most: my house, & my marriage.

First off all you DID NOT quit you have more imporatnt things that need to be done as they effect your LIFE. As you may recall in my first e mail to you it mentioned my relationship and how I lost it for a freakin trophy. At that time I told you make sure your girl knows if things get bad say something. I admire your priorities. I have said with me I will compete this year on my terms. My terms are it does not cost me a realtionship or friendships and i enjoy it. My chances of going pro are a big fat 0% as I would never subject my body to that much abused of drugs and I have bigger goals to conquer. I bodybuild because it is a challenge to me and I love it. I love the stage because its an outlet for hardwork but in your case your stage is now your finance, your house, your marriage, and the most important your new life with your new wife. make that your stage and you will always be richly rewarded.

Peace and Congrats on the RIGHT choice.

You might want to do this: If this is your first contest, and you still think you can do it at all, maybe just think of it as a warm-up for next year's. Just go in thinking you are there to see how it all works and what works for you. Go in with the attitude that if you don't fall of the stage, you have succeeded. You can put together your posing routine and practice the mandatory poses well in advance, so that those last two weeks you only need to refresh your memory for a few minutes a day. As for diet and all, you'll just have to do some advance planning...and if you keep in mind it's just a practice show, you won't go crazy if yoiu don't get to follow every gram of what you planned.

IMO a lot of guys put too much mental energy and expectations (and often, even planning) into their first contest and end up disappointed and not having a good time. You'll never get everything perfect.

Well, Jay this would be my 2nd show. I think it will be a lot harder, then just making it a practice run. I don't want that. If i am going to compete, im going to compete to win, and i will have 100% confidence in myself, and will be dedicated to the contest 100%. Yeah, i have confidence, i just dont think i will be able to dedicate all my time to my training & diet like i would want to. So, until next year. I will come back bigger, harder, and more ripped then ever. And i will have had a full year of maturing my body, and getting deeper cuts.

I did my 1st show last may ,i am lucky i have been with my wife for 19 years.
We are both 36.
It was hell for both of us, but i could not have got through it without her.
She became a GYM wife , i was never home.

But she is all for me doing it again this MAY.

I would say you have made the right choice.
Timing is everything.

Enjoy life !

Don't feel bad about postpoing the show. You want to step on stage knowing that you made your best effort to look as freaky as you can. Your decision is a wise one. Let me tell ya that as it gets closer to the wedding your wife will really need your support and you will also be responsible for entertaining guests and being pleasant (immpossible while dieting).

Is it possible for you to choose a show that is just a few months later than the one you had planned to do? Like maybe 3-4 months after the wedding? That schedule seemed to work out well for my hubby and me.

Juicygirl, I will probably just wait it out until next year, and gain some more solid mass, and shed a little fat. I plan on revising a couple of good cycles and putting on some serious weight. Im gonna try for 220-230 in the winter.

Hardcore, i've been competing over 5 years now. Trust me when I tell you that you MUST have all your shit together and on virtual "autopilot" when getting ready for a show. I wanted to do a National Level contest last year since I was qualified but with 2 job changes etc. my life simply was not settled enough and needed more of my attention. Luckily I still managed a State Level contest and did well and am still qualified and much more prepared for that National contest this year. You are making the right choice(s) and you obviously haven't given up. There are many bodybuilding contests each year and you live close enough to do any of the ones in TN, AL, GA or maybe even FL. Don't sweat it dude. Keep your priorites straight and keep your focus.......you'll get there. If you are still in your 20's you have plenty of time brother. Hell, I didn't even start competing until I was over 30.
