Could I please get some suggestions on the following? Some guy at the gym asked me if I knew anyone who could hook him up with some gear. I'd love to be able to make a few bucks to pay for my own gear, but at the same time I'm alway's cautious of undercovers. Someone told me one time that if you ask an undercover if he's a cop, by law he has to say yes, does anyone know anything about this? Anyway's what would you all suggest I do about this situation? I go down to Mexico every few weeks so I could make some good money off this, but it's not worth getting busted. [This message has been edited by Corleone (edited January 25, 2001).]

Corleone, that used to be true, but not anymore. With the new war on drugs policy that former Pres. Clinton brought about, anyone who is a cop, federal agent, or is working with them can now lie and say that they are not and it will still hold up in court. It is no longer considered entrapment. My suggestion would be to tell him you're also looking for a source, maybe your old source left town or something, and you'll let him know if you find one and for him to do the same. That way he'll continue to ask around and give you time to determine whether or not you should trust him. My .02 cents. Good luck. DOBB

Would it be entrapment if they asked you for the stuff? |
