I would have posted this on the training board, but more people read this one. I have been noticing an increased amount of pain in my right shoulder when doing presses or any shoulder or chest movement. I have already postulated that this is due to a weak rotator cuff and have been training it to help strengthen it. My question is how many of you have this same problem? What do you do to help alleviate it? How has the rotator movements helped in your training? Do you have any new ideas on shoulder pain treatment or any personal advise to give. Thanks folks!

well you train "around" the injury. Do not do excercices that give you pain. And if you are lucky after a month or 6 it can be over. Or you could see a doc, but he will tell you NOT to train. And don't accept cortisone shots. Theys simply do not help. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short

I have the same problem with my right shoulder, its trashed. I avoid behind the neck presses now, those use to be my favorites. I do rotator cuff exercises twice a week and they seem to help a little. Just try to work around it and avoid exercises that cause too much pain.

I have a shoulder injury. Deca helped ALLOT. Now I am off and it comes back once in awhile. I just train around it and eliminate the exercises that aggrivate it. Dr's will tell you to stop training. I went to a trainer at a college near me and he gave some exercises to strengthen it and said to KEEP training. Good Luck Bro. ------------------

You've got bench presser's shoulder. I've had rotator problems off and on for a while. Any exercise on the incline bench hurt like hell. I just avoid exercises that hurt. I hate skipping inclines, but if I continue doing them I'll probably destroy my shoulder completely. Try an ice pack after your workout and 800 mgs of ibuprofen after your workout.

Plifter, great advice. Icepacks work. Inclines hurt me also, but I have been stretching it out and after the first set it gets better. This is another injury. It must be nice to be free of all injuries. I seem to always have something tweaked.

Front& lateral raises hurt my shoulders but I went really light for a while and it seemed to have helped. My problem is with upright rows they kill my left elbow for some reason. I love'em but may have to find an alternative it is getting excrutiating! ------------------

I have both shoulder fucked up. Take time off. Maybe get some physical therapy. Go light and work on your upper back muscles. There was a point where putting a seatbelt on caused pain.

Bro the shoulder surgery sucks. I had mine cleaned out 3 years ago (I played baseball in college)with a torn laberum and frayed rotator cuff. Man baseball is hard on the joints, I blew my ACL about 1 year ago and am just now feeling like it is getting better. I've got no legs anymore but I'm on the right track. Watch for the surgery, after my knee (which was the worst experience of my life!!!!) I went from 200 down to 172 in about 2 1/2 weeks. I got pretty sick and just puked whatever food I could get down. The shoulder was a lot easier in terms of pain and eating so you should be okay.

The same thing that you are describing happened to me, but I kept ignoring it. I would get pain and discomfort in my left shoulder, and one day I just blew it out doing militaries. The point is, don't take it lightly, it might and probably will happen to you. Go to the doctor's, and he'll give you an anti-inflamatory, and you can get some physio done too. Trust you're better off taking time off training than aggravating your delts |
