So, for all the newbies it must be said again as I guarantee this is the reason for 95% of bros getting scammed. I know it is very tempting getting an email you didnt ask for with a list of all the goodies at attractive prices, however, you must summarily trash those emails, dont even bother to verify with mods or what have you. Best thing is to get to know respected guys from the board through email, then after it is established you just dont want to hit them up for a source, ask as politely as possible and dont get pissed if they dont offer it. Good things sometimes take time. ------------------     | ||

actually.... i have been mailed by legit sources before. but if they are legit, they WILL give u references.. make sure you check with those references too and don't trust them. | ||

However rare, thats true spunky, but not everyone is a patient shopper like you or I, so for newbie purposes, they probably should follow my advice. ------------------ | ||

Even if a good source sends mail to someone he doesn't know, it would never be to a newbie. For his own security. He'd only send to someone well established in the game, and would probably be willing to front. Just my 2 cents. ------------------ | ||

TERRIFIC POST. I have thought of making that post several times, and just have forgotten. I have been on here almost 1 year and have had SO many of those guys e-mailing me. 2 things about them thats a given. | ||

SuperDave... Good post, but I'm gonna disagree a little. EliteFitness has a no-source posting policy which I totally agree with, but most other boards don't- therefore you have many "reliable" domestic and foreign sources who do openly advertise & solicite for new customers (or to get the word out when they have a new product available or a sale on a certain item)..I think this is the wrong way to go about business but it's their choice not mine. Best bet is to ask if they are endorsed by any "vets"(people on the boards with handles you recognize) or monitors...and actually take the time to email the source's references, don't just take his word for it. And another thing you can do is search the archives of the various message boards to see what people have to say about your potential source. |
