I'm getting ready to start for the year and I'm trying to make some strides in my chest improvement. What do you guys think, dumbells or barbells for building that massive chest? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Both! I find the key to maximize my growth is to try and continually shock the muscle. Keep it guessing. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I agree. Do both. Alternate every few weeks or so. Keep things changing. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Go with dumbells and do mostly incline. Flat bench is a compound exercise that is good for beginners since it works more than one main muscle. Dumbells concentrate more the chest when done slowly with correct form. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

As far as pressing motions are concerned dumbells provide a superior stretch and rage of motion and make for a generally better movement. Big dumbells IG ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I believe in barbells. Dumbells tend to work for me for only a week or two. I then go back to barbells and start growing again. B True ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I like dumbells, but sometimes its too much a hassle to get the heavier weights into position (espec on shoulder and high incline presses). I heard there was some sorta device with hooks so you can rack the dumbells? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I use both. But I that is what i do hate about dumbells is having to lift them up if u don't have a training partner. I hurt my rotator cuff slinging 110lb dumbells up on my shoulders so i could do presses. its been sore for 2 weeks. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

looked up the hook thingy. Its called "Power Hooks." You can hang the dbs of a bar in a power rack, and start in the up position. Maybe I'll get that. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

sometimes I use both. When doing flat bench, I bungee the bar on both ends with about an 85lb dumbell to work on locking out the bar usually with 225 on the bar ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
