Finally, at 33 years old and after 15+ years of training, I've gotten consistent and serious with squats. For years, I told myself "my knees are shot" (due to HS football and bad form), I'll just do leg presses instead of squats (if I did legs at all!). My knees WERE twitchy and painful, and would hurt when walking up stairs, etc. But now, after about four months of leg training centering around deep squats with medium weight (for me), I have no knee pain at all, ever! Never done gear, so I can only atribute this to the squats. Also, wife tells me my butt looks great (hehe), and that I'm much more proportional. Anyway, the motivating factor in all of this was the following post by Rock308 back in September. I don't know who he is and haven't seen him since, but props to him for the post. Much appreciated and I hope others can learn from it.

I have knee problems too, but I'm encouraged by your post. I'm going to do alot more leg work with less weight, and see if I can get the same results. Thanks for the motivation. By the way I'm 37, and have had the same excuse about my knees....no more excuses !

I wish I could get my pops to squat. He gives me the same shit about his knees and his low back.

sweet! I missed that post the 1st time around. I always try to squat deep, but sometimes I cant help but put on the weight. But, for the next 8 weeks, I am def gonna suck up the ego and always go deep.
