I have been reading about different trainers aproaches to bodybuilding. It seems like lately alot of them are saying that bulking up is a waste of time, that you are no farther ahaed than if you just stay lean all year round. What do you guy's think of this theory? ![]() ![]() ![]()

After much experience with bulking and cutting, I tend to agree. -TG ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

bulking up is worth it. look at lee priest and ronnie coleman in the off season. hell they go up past 300lbs and then every year they compete their always 5 or more pounds heavier. then look at people like shawn ray, stay kind of lean in the off season and barely weighs any hevier next time they compete. always bulk up.... ![]() ![]() ![]()

I would say if you truely want to get big(not the model look) you absolutely have no choice but to bulk. There is no other way to grow than by consuming excess calories...more than your body needs for daily functions. If you constantly try to stay lean by slaving over cardio and restricting your caloric intake then you simply will not get big...you won't even grow. Once you get to the desired size then it becomes easier to stay fairly lean while maintaining mass but getting there is a whole different ballgame. You gotta suffer the pain to play the game and that means you have got to bulk to aceive massivness. This means water retention and some fat. Once you get there though then you can concentrate on leaning out and maintaining the fine balance between lean and massive. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Beezers (edited January 17, 2001).] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Bulking is worth it. How fun is it to eat clean year round? I love eating whatever I want when I bulk up. I like to have a life to and not be a slave to bodybuilding. Some may disagree but that's fine because we all choose to live our lives different. I tend to gain more muscle when I pack the calories in though. Sure you will gain fat but the tradeoff is gaining extra muscle. As long as you can do a proper cutting cycle and diet you won't lose any of the muscle when you trim the fat back off. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
