If you send $omething through priority mail, are you required to put a return address on the envelope? If you are, should you put a fake return address or a real one? [This message has been edited by Frackal (edited January 16, 2001).]

it's not illegal to send money in the mail. just don't put any written info with the cash! ------------------

I just got back from the post office and there is a spot for the return address, but I left it blank. It was a small order, so I didn't feel the need. The lady at the counter actually wrote the address of my source on the priority envelope for me, I had another envelope I was busy on. She just said,"You don't want a return address?" I said,"I don't want him to know where I live." She was cool with it.

I always pull a name out of my ass when putting a return. How many times have you actually had the mail return something to you? Just double check the address and put the proper postage. ------------------

Here are my thoughts on this matter. It is not illegal to send cash through the post, BUT if you do and the envelope is intercepted by the guys who are or who maybe 'watching' the place of whom the cash is going to then they can quite easily put 2 and 2 together and figure out why you are sending cash. As a result they may intercept the envelope and pretend to be the delivery man, come knocking at your door with the goods and ..................... Well that is just my opinion, it all depends on how much is being sent really. If for some reason it is not delivered and you use a fake address on the back you are gonna make some guy a happy person..... Peace ------------------

Ok, here goes. When sending cash through the mail, you can do either or. Put the return addy on your package, and if something was to happen, then yeah, it may get sent back to you. Then on the other hand, if it were opened by authorities, then you may be questioned if something was to happen to your source. I guess what im trying to say, is go buy some carbon paper, and wrap it around your cash, stick it in a birthday card, and be done with it. Then they cannot see that cash is inside the package. I still dont put a return addy on mine, though. Too paranoid i guess. Each to his own. I wouldn't do it. ------------------ |
