44 year old buddy of mine just got back from the doc and has an inflamed prostate. He is otherwise very healthy and it is most likely due to a bacteria infection and anti biotics should clear it up. Anyhow he was going to do some sust, prety light, but is now scared of the Testosterones due to this problem. He still wants to do something because he is going to do T-3 and was thinking Deca might not be as bad as a choice as Test? Any opinions on this would be grateful as I don't want to tell him to go ahead with Deca if it will be detrimental to his prostate. He is going to wait a month for the antibiotics to work and then will go light on the deca for no more than 6 weeks. Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I was in exactly the same situation when I did my first cycle. I had a prostate infection. Those things take up to 8 weeks to eliminate, because the blood source to the prostate is so small. I delayed my cycle until it was cleared up. Elevated testosterone is thought to contribute to prostate cancer. They are seeing a wave of it in HIV patients who have been on long-term testosterone therapy. Your friend should have his PSA levels checked and get sure that he's got an infection, not some other problem. Had my PSA levels tested high -- they didn't -- I probably would not have done the test even after my infection cleared up. I have no idea if deca poses a risk. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks Musclebrains. Any other thoughts on the effects of different steroids on the prostate? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

the Primo just "enlared" my prostate. Cycle ended 24/11/2000 and still not ok. Taking herbs (Prostavit) but for the first time it helps, but not enough. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

According to a urologist at my gym: Herbal therapy -- like Saw Palmetto -- doesn't really reduce the size of the prostate but relaxes or enlarges the urinary duct, reducing the primary symptom but not the underlying cause. Understand, though, that an infection and an enlarged prostate are two different things. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Musclebrains: I spoke wiht him last night and it is in fact an infection, they are 90% sure and the test is in a month for PSA levels and the scope thing they do. So with that said when the antibiotic treatment is doen he should be okay for Deca 400mg weekly? Also got recommended saw palmetto. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

if his psa's test okay and his infection is clear, then it follows that the deca should be fine, but I'm not a doctor. I had no problem with my prostate after I cleared the infection and did test and dbol. Of course, in guys over 40 (I'm one), some prostate enlargement is almost inevitable. Be sure he uses Saw Palmetto and zinc, also takes plenty of milk thistle. (And be SURE, you get standardized substances. There is a huge amount of crap on the market.) It's just my intuition but I think these drugs tax the organs of the "elderly" more strongly than guys in their 20s. It is imperative, expecially with a prostate infection or inclination to one (they tend to come back), to drink tons of water. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
