Yes don't even get up to go to the fridge with the fear you may elevate your heart rate, install it right next to you and the T.V

topolino, dont hear this guys...
Aerobics arent and will never be bad to your heart, but some people claim that doing it while bulking is counterproductive (spell??) because you want to use all your energy on the muscle building process.
I disagree with this theory. If you do aerobics while on gear you wont retain much water and will keep your heart in good condition (in case of a heavy cycle).

Cardio is always good. Just do it accordingly. If you are trying to bulk then do moderate cardio during the day. If you are cutting then you need more intensity...but to think it is bad for your heart, well thats just crazy, it is the exact opposite, and that is why you will get flamed for this one.

What he is asking is because of the fact that AS increase heart rate, will doing cardio be additional havoc on your heart... Am I right??

Depends if you like a enlarged heart or not. What do you think a heart doctor would say?

Well the heart IS a muscle.

It would make sense that cardio while on AS could cause the heart to grow too much, which could be bad for you, possibly fatal.

Not sure if this is true, but it definately sounds possible...

There have been an increasing # of deaths in HS football players over recent years in my area....though not proven, many were juicers,, they died of heart attack from OVER exertion.....

Thats a very high level of over-exertion these boys put their bodies through, coupled with other factors as weight and physical cardiac conditioning they were in.....

Its one thing going balls to the wall lifting while juicing, but you need to use a progressive more systematic approach in cardio training......I try to never take my heart rate past 85% max, using the formula of 220-age x 85%, which in my case would be 161 bpm. I try and keep my heart rate between 60-70%. Thats around 123 bpm.

Damn you got me worried now. I run up mountains (small mountains), in the snow when available, (wind sprints) and in the deep sand during summer, also wind sprints and get my heart rate way past 85%. It isn't for more than a minute or 2 as that is all the muscles can handle as well as the lungs but it does get up there frequently. I have been doing cardio for 15 years though and I'm 29 but I know this is going to be on my mind next time. How about while on some ephedrine also, that can't be good as it makes you train like a mad man.

NO, NO, NO, dont go getting all worried about running your heart rate up there.....I, personally, dont because I use the cardio for premium fat burning, your predominitely using carb energy when you get your heart rate up there past 80%.....

The deaths I spoke of were because of many factors, not just juice and a high heart rate.....we're talking about hydration, nutrition, genetics, etc... the body is a very strong machine and can take alot of abuse......

You should be fine if you've been putting your body there, I always lifted for strength and size and upon hearing of these deaths lately started doing the moderate cardio to get my heart in shape in concern for enlarged heart cause of the way I exert myself when I lift......(and wanting to shed some fat).....you know what I'm saying..?....holding your breath in really hard when doing a single and letting it out in sometimes a very loud grunt, this could lead to enlarged heart....

Yeah Heemaan you are probably right. It's not like I'm waking up from 20 sedentary years and going for a killer run. Think of what the Seals get put thru and wrestlers, that stuff is maxing your body out with someone forcing you pass your threshold.

These kids were putting their bodies way past a threshold they've never been, they werent in very good cardiac shape......

If you've been training cardio for many years, you'd actually have a very hard time getting to that point......but its always good to be aware of this when juicing, but not to the point where you might slack off in fear of dying....

A sports medicine doctor told me not to raise my heart rate above 70% while on steroids to avoid developing an enlarged heart. I don't think he was worried about me raising my heart rate from time to time, i.e. running after the bus, watching a suspenseful movie, etc, just not regularly or intentionally.

Maybe he was just being ultra cautious, I don't know. That's just what he told me anyway.

Good luck

lot's of good replys

doing cardio when on a mass program can
be productive
Rember the main function of the cardiovasculsr system is to bring o2 and
nutrients to the cells

arobic(with o2) exercise increases the sensitivity of the cells to insulin

Rember Creatine phosphate system is energy synthesis of Atp without O2 this is the
main source of atp wile lifting.
the primary limitation of the creatine phosphgen system is muscles stores little CP
thus the ability to arobicly create atp is mecessary and
will help supply more o2 and nutrients to working muscles.

summary: AROBIC cardio 70-80% max heart rate will continue all the benefits.
rember to adjust diet to stay in a positive
calore intake to grow

I had a mitral valve replacement when I was 32. My cardiologist suggested I mix in more cardio, especialy when "ON". The anticoagulant effect of most AS is an often overlooked benefit!

i think cardio is a must while on gear to keep water down and stay healthy, plus the heart doesnt have hardly any juice receptors in it so it really wont grow. it is a cardiac muscle not skeletal and they respond completely different. KEEP RUNNING!

It seems that some guys misunderstood my question. I really meant while you on AS that intense cardio training where the heart has a lot to pump could lead to an enlarged heart. I work on my English, so i hope it will be clearer the next time. Thanks
