Although still basically confind to this freaking apartment. Computer 80% restored. Feel free to hammer me; just pease give me some time to reply. And thank you again, bro's, for your understanding. Even though I'm 43, I'm glad I'm in pretty good shape. Sad to hear about the health statistics of most youngsters these days. good health leads to better recovery, that's for sure. Not that it it still doesn't freakin' hurt like heck, but I think I'll be able to meet my buddy, Retabolil2, on Friday. Dexter ------------------

Thanks, pal. And when I configure my "new" Outlook 2000, I will ad it -- and post it as my primary email address on EF, because Hushmail suks so badly, except for - how shall I say? - "sensitive" communications. Hey Dexter, good to hear things are starting to turn around for you. Did you ever figure out who sent you that virus? BTW, if you remember, I dislocated a couple ribs last fall. I know your pain brother, mine hurt like a bitch; just take it slow and you'll be back in no time.

11 Jan 00 Hi Bro's: Thanks for the welcome back and words of encouragement. I realize people have suffered greater injuries and calamaties. Broken ribs alone, though very, very painful, don't qualify as life threatening. Dealing with broken ribs and fixing a virus-infected computer is definitely a catabolic process, though. El Cubano: Please DON'T stop writing your message headings in Spanish, even though it is intimidating. :) I studied Spanish for 6 years (even got sent to a competition). Last time I used Spanish was with a group of drunken helicopter pilots in Garucha, Spain. After that, nada. As they say, "what you don't use, you lose." Applies to our favorite subject, too. Anyway, I definitely WILL reply. And with literally 22 messages, your being a mod and generally good guy and whatnot, you're at the top of the priority list. Ranger: I'll accept "Geezer" at this age but not GRAMPS! If you wanna call me Gramps, wait until I'm 80. That age qualifies for that term. :) By the way, I was impressed that you translated Caesar's (self congratulatory -- just like today's political autobiographies) "Gallic Wars" from Latin. I had a tough time getting through the English-translated version! What a fascinating, truly great historical figure. My favorite. Best book, in my opinion, and the most objective I've read is "Caesar" by Christian Meier. Great read. Reabolil: Saturday afternoon or early evening would be best. I couldn't help noticing that your "DEXTER!" message gratuitously disappeared. I think somebody doesn't like me. Jeff: I was standing in two inches of soapy water, toweling myself off when the shit hit the fan. BigJay: So simple. A rubber mat. An imbecile could have have thought of that. I didn't. I vote for you as mod. :) About computer viruses in general, I've learned a thing or two or three. First, I remember a conversation I had with a bro in Hong Kong last year. He was talking about a friend of his who was actually employeed by a major anti-virus company as a consultant. He was contracted to work out solutions to various viruses -- many of which he wrote (in advance) HIMSELF!!!! Makes me think there has become an industry of such "anti-viral consultants." Second, there a LOT of good Eastern European and Russian virus writers. Who knows, maybe they are "consultants," too and not just the stereotypic virus-writer prankster jerk with too much time on his hands. I met two such guys this week. They write viruses, malicious ones. But they aren't on anybody's payroll; it's a hobby. These anti-virus companies must have a hell of a time keeping up. If I were to SPECULATE (no proof -- yet, anyway -- unlike the proof I have about his scamming) who sent me that virus, I would say Mr. "KKK" (or "Stanozolol" or "Kelvin Klain" at [email protected]). He is the scammer-loser Retabolil and I pointed out earlier. And if and when I get proof, well, it will be an issue that will be settled off-board, Moscow-style. Newbies! As Slopain advised: 1. The people with the lowest prices are usually the scammers, so go budget shopping and piss away your money. 2. If its too good to be true, it is. 8. STAY AWAY FROM WEB PAGE BASED OPERATIONS, or sources that seem way too public thus attracting attention. This guy is bad news, let me tell you. I can now say that there are only THREE honest and reliable sources operating from Russia, by the way (and he -- KKK -- was NEVER one of them). Be careful. Thanks again for your words. George, I still owe you DEXTER's Letter of Resignation. You have insulted me. Dexter ------------------ |
