It seems that alot of people are this board are confused about this topic and it's mostly because a few people tell others how they think it works without having spoken to a mail man first.

Here's how it works. I'm just going to be using the main "words" or "phrases" from the web site. When someone pays for the delivery confirmation at the post office the bar code is scanned. On the website a few hours (flexible) later it will say "accept or pick up". While enroute it may go through another post offic or check point at which time it will say "arrival at" or "processed" or just plain "enroute". When it reaches your local post office the info on the site will say "your package was received" or "arrival at" and "is scheduled" for delivery". Once the package is delivered to your house it will say "package delivered at 'such and such time'".

What does this mean to everyone? It means that when the site says that the package was delivered, that means that it was delivered to your house. If the site says that it was delivered and you don't have it one of three things happened. 1. it was delivered to the wrong address. 2. the mail man stole it. or 3. the person who got your mail stole it.

Here's an example..........

You entered 0300#################

Your item was delivered at 10:05 am on November 4 in City State Zip

Here is what happened earlier:

November 4 6:19 am ARRIVAL AT UNIT CITY State Zip

November 3 7:05 am ENROUTE City State Zip

November 2 10:58 am ACCEPT OR PICKUP City State Zip

Another note, all priority mail delivery confirmation numbers currently begin with 0300...... So if someone gives you a number beginning with something else let them know that you are aware that the number that they gave you wasn't a priority or standard mail delivery confirmation number.

Oh, and don't forget... It's only 34 cents. Definitely worth it for both parties.

Hey Cuban, my package which was confirmed to be delivered on Saurday, was not. So some how it got delivered today, after we called about it. May be they delivered it on Saturday to the wrong address, got it returned on monday, and delivered it on Tuesday? I dont know what they did but I am happy now.

Good post!

Awhile back I sent my source 1000 bucks, and The tracking said It was delivered but he never got it. I know this for a FACT, as I spoke with people at his mailbox place who confirmed this. He sent my package anyways.
Fu**ing mailman stole it I bet.

Ever since then, I use express only. It is better at tracking, and goes into more detail about the route your package takes.

TheItalian, although it is against policy many times the PO will actually scan the package as delivered when it arrives at the PO instead of when it is actually delivered. Most PO's won't risk this as if they caught they can get in a LOT of trouble but I have still seen it happen a few times(recently had a package delivered to one of my customers 4 months after it had been scanned as delivered, man I raised some hell).

Devil, if you use Western Union this cannot happen. But you know this know. Never ever sent money in an envelop.

I just want to add, I got this info directly from the Post Master at my local post office, not the mailman.

El Cubano, I hate to tell you but the 0300 number is not true. I work for the largest online retailer(yeah you can guess who) and the tracking numbers on our priority mail shipments usually start with 900

The price went up as of Sunday. For a small box under 1lb it used to be $3.55 for priority with delivery confirmation, now it's $3.95. Also, on the numbers, all of us regular Joe's use 0300 numbers. Obviously they will give large companies there own numbers for obvious reasons.

As usual the Cuban is 100% correct. This is exactly how it works and what it costs. Thanks bro for keeping us brothers informed and up to date.
