What can you guys tell me about spleen problems. I've had some tests run and the doc still says there's nothing wrong with me, but i know there is, just below my left rib cage, where the spleen is, i get an twitching, squeezing, pressure feeling, it doesn;t hurt, just annoying. What does the spleen do? What could the problem be? It comes and goes all the time.

thanks
ty

You sure it's not a torn intercorstal muscle or a cracked floating rib?

If it's very low it could be your appendix, I think the doc. would have spotted that though. Sorry I'm out of ideas.

My buddy hit a brick mailbox doing 80 on a CBR and he had to have his spleen taken out. He had to go to blood dialaysis twice a year, so I think it has something to do with filtering the blood,,

It isn't your spleen. If something is wrong with your spleen, it is not likely to "come and go". You cound get an infection, in which case your spleen would swell. But then it would go away, not likely to come back unless you got a brand new infection. If your spleen has problems during youth, it was most likely mononucleosis, as this is the most common cause of splenomegaly (enlargement)

The spleen does a few things. Its pretty much the largest lymph node in your body. It is a factory for producing antibodies in your blood. It also removes worn out red blood cells. Think of it as a big janitor for cleaning house. You can live without a spleen, though this isn't as simple as living without your appendix.

Be well, hope this helps

Appendix is on the other side. The spleen is located under the diaphram, directly under the left lung.

Does it hurt when you breath deeply? How about when you press on it?

Bro, Do you think that you might have mono? If you have mono and continue to exert yourself full force, it can cause your spleen to swell. Keep us updated.

Hey if you run out of options with doctors, i.e. they can't figure out the problem, try a chinese medicine practitioner or a naturopath and see what they say.
