Is proscar really that much more effective then propecia? The reason I ask is that I'm not even really bald, just afraid I might eventually lose my hair, right now it's only thinning slightly and I wanna take action before anythin further happens. I've been usin nizorol and that doesn't really do much. Basically I'm wonderin if Propecia is good enough for someone in my situation who is barely even loosin his hair at all and simply tried to take precautions. Basically,I can walk into my docs office and ask for a script for propecia and it will even be payed for under my drug plan. Whereas with proscar I'd have to get it through other means which we all know can be a big hassle and pretty expensive and unrealiable. Basically is Propecia enough to get the job done for someone in my situation? thanks guys.

proscar is covered by insurance...to my knowledge...propecia is not...considered a cosmetic drug. But if your insurance covers it, Propecia is perfectly fine. I'd use as little of that stuff as possible...there are some sexual side-effects to take into consideration.

Propecia may be all that is needed in your case. The only way to know is to experiment and see. But for cycles high in testosterone, proscar may be a better option. I don't know how much you pay for either of these drugs, but for me, proscar is cheaper on a mg per mg basis. If this is also the case for you, you might want to get the proscar and just cut the tabs into 4's.

Proscar is cheaper and they are the same thing (finasteride), just differenet MG's so take proscar and split the pills and save yourself some money.

the problem is as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong that a doctor can prescribe propecia for baldness, however proscar at this point is intended for prostate treatment or something like that and not baldness. Thus since I don't have that problem the doc would not prescribe me proscar. Only propecia. Since it's prescribed by the doc I could get it under my coverage. If I wanted proscar i couldn't get a prescription for it so I'd have to buy it from a black market dealer.

at this point the hairloss is so little that it's not even really noticable unless u look really closly, so I figure for now if propecia does the job than great. But if when I go on heavy test cycles and what not and it becomes more of a problem I'd try to obtain proscar.
