I have a friend on another board and he is worried that some one is looking on his email. He has stuff on his account that would basically fuck him. the other day he went to check his account and it said unavaible because machine that had account wasent there it said sorry for inconvence and it wasent specific to his account but his other hotmail acount was fine. IS it possable the law could pick a email off a anabolic dissicussion board and look it over. Another thing he sings for his packages so there is a record of oversea mail. Is this a reason to worry or parinoia

It happens to hotmail all the time. Not the feds, just hotmail down for routine work. I have had it for gear accounts and for personal accounts. No problem. B True

FEDS go after big fish. If your friend isn't a BIG FISH than there's no reason the FEDS would want to read his emails.

Damian has it correct. . .hotmail is a disaster by the way mine is either down or slow about 25% of the time. . .it works though. . .I wouldn't worry. The other thing is he shouldn't sign for anything, and past packages can't be held against him, he can say he was ordering chocolate from Switzerland, plus they don't care unless your a dealer. ------------------

Just as a general rule, an information transfered by a "Gound cable" (IE Cable modems, T1/T3 other fast line connections, and basic service providers), will NEVER be secure. It does not matter if it's 8 bit encryption or 128 bit encryption, nothing is safe. PGP programs are a joke, and anything by a big program like Norton Ultilities should never be trusted. So you know, if the feds really wanted us, I mean REALLY wanted us, they would just monitor all the IP addresses that tap into the server, and trace them back to our house's or jobs, then cross reference those numbers to email accounts such as hotmail, or yahoo....and you have a slam dunk case. The only exception might be if you have a dynamic IP address, however, if you just happen to send one peice of mail that has the same IP on it, while logging into this website, your hit. Just a heads up.

It has a backdoor, well known in most Phreak and WareZ circles. Each version is a little different, but none of them are safe!

Does the government keep track of encryption software?Ive always thought that they would allow COMMERCIAL encryption software to be very secure but not to the extent that if they wanted to look at it they wouldnt be able to.Am I right about this?I remember hearing some kind of argument about this a couple of years ago where the government wanted the ability to crack all private encryption when needed.

MeanOne, Unless you are a drug kingpin (or criminal/political equivalent), then it is very useful. I say that anyone who e-mails questionable material use PGP. You might want to use a point of reference when giving out info since some people may mistakenly discount PGP altogether. Anyway, nice to see you posting. anabolic24/7 I just can't delete his post because of bad taste.

MeanOne, When you say PGP has a backdoor are you referring to the ADK "bug". This exists only in the commercial versions, and if you know how this feature can be used against you you can protect yourself.... ----------------------------------------- I am sure there are plenty of conspiracy theorists and paranoid pfreaks who have convinced themselves big brother is watching. True, the ADK thing is a mess, but if you know what you are doing the only way they are going to break your PGP encoded transmittals is if they invest a week of NSA CRAY time on it....and they will only do that if you are a Big Fish..... Finally, if you want to protect your ID, you can use an IP masking service with encryption between your PC and the maksing hub. True, the macking service can be compromised, and the packet encryption is not the strongest, but if you combine that type of service with PGP you are pretty secure....

No scooter, I'm refering to the patch which would allow you to read any PGP mail, and hear any PGP Phone messages. DO NOT ASK ME FOR THIS! I DO NOT HAVE IT, AND IF I DID, I WOULD NOT SEND IT OUT. Scooter, try to hit up some of the higher up's in RaZoR911, they know more than I do about it. If you doubt, they will have you send them an encrypted PGP message, and reply with the translation in under 2 minutes. Pretty damn good...too good for it too be anything like a brute force style program. --==MeanOne==--

Use Hushmail. Not the best mail client in the world, but it is secure. Just remember that mail you send from Hushmail, if to another mail address that is not Hushmail, is not secure. It is only secure sending to another hushmail address. One trick that I use when sending email back and forth is to substitute names for roids. For example, thai dbol = barbie dolls, or winny depot = milk, and so on. Helps out. My 2cents

If your buddy was a fish would he be a tuna, or a trout. The goverment wants tuna fish usually, but if a Swordfish was being open about his business he might get grilled, maybe even blackened. ------------------
