Today I made the trek across town to the gym where the areas pros train at. The place was friggin huge and they had all sorts of crazy equipment. I was repping 495 in DLs when a guy who had one the state superheavy class took notice, came over to show me around, and got me a reduced rate. Pretty cool. The only downside is that he said I should squat with him next time, since he likes to full rep 555. Hugh is worried about looking like weak dweeb already.

Thats good man..i read your post about your gym. Whats better..worrying about the other gyms bitching and all that bullshit or going the extra mile to somewhere you like and the people are alot more respectable to you and everyone else. Just workout with that dude..itd be good cause he would push you and help you out alot.

Kahn, If it will make you feel better, I was using sumo, which we all know is not a "real" DL. Little known fact: Sumo uses the same muscles as taking a crap...therefore any lifter who consumes 300 grams of protein a day will automatically be able to drop a big sumo.

well he is looking for a training partner that can lift heavy. Probably he didn't found the right guy and since he asks you, you must have impressed him. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short

Huge, dont worry about looking weak... If this guy knows his shit and is that big then he will be more concerned with your mechanics as to how much you can do...

Read your post the other day as well. Glad to hear it. This new training environment and partner will make you GROW! I understand where your coming from as I left my old gym many years ago for similar reasons. It started to get more like a fitness gym. I travelled further to my curent gym as soon as I got a car and it was worth it. First time there an ex Mr North West who competed in the Britain wanted to know if I'd train with him. He must have noticed my intensity and hunger even though he was years ahead of me at the time. We became and still are very good friends although he has moved on a couple of years ago. I've been at the gym for several years now and it has had new owners who also want to change it more into a fitnes gym. I am starting to get a stale feeling there again so maybe it's time for me to move on again. Good luck at the new gym bro. |
