Has anyone been through the metal dectectors at the airport coming back from mexico with bottles strapped to them? I removed all the tops which took awhile to get off last time through, but wondering if anyone else knows if the metal tops set them off or anything?
Thanks

I have been through metal detectors in airports and in customs. Worn bottles strapped to me before and never set the machine off. How many bottles were you talking about?

I walk through those damn things with my keys in my pocket all the time, and I never set it off. I highly doubt it'll pick up the metal tops off the bottles. The detectors are for larger metallic items -- like GUNS.

I believe that the metal detectors in the airports cannot detect aluminum (why keys often go undetected). Aluminum is a non-magnetizing compound so it would not give off a magnetic field like iron would when exposed to a current.

Just touch a magnet to the aluminum vial....if it attracts, you won't want to carry it on-board. But if the magnet does nothing, you are probably safe.

Simple...buy amps. smaller and easier to smuggle.

It will not pick up the aluminum strip holding the rubber cork. BUT... just to be safe cut the metal strip off with fingernail clippers and tape the cork down with medical tape. Save your old vials and when you get home you squirt the new gear in the old vials. That is what I did last time.

Aluminum is an ALLOY, not a metal. If your worried, do this: take some of the tops off some old bottles(if you have them)and put them in your shirt pocket. Go to the closest international airport to you & walk through the detector! If it goes off, you just have a couple of scraps of garbage to explain! Then you'll know for sure.
