Well - I'm the biggest guy at my gym, but there are a lot of dudes way larger than me. It depends on context. For the general public, I think 210 and reasonably lean would be considered big.

When people can tell you work out despite being fully clothed and mention how big you are.

You cannot really put any set figure to it. When I was 6'5 @ 210lbs and lean I didnt look even remotely big, Im not at 250 and still have a little way to go. However give 210lbs to a person who is 5'5" and they are massive. It all depends.

I think the white dress shirt factor.
That ans tux wearing. No one really makes a tux for a BB. We all looked stupid iin a buddies wedding, bunch of muscle guys in skinny tuxs.

But if someone says your large, big, and its not FAT, then you have hit some mark in the public.

For me at 5'8 225 I'm small in my mind, but others think I'm already big.

big is not only size..but an attitude I think...like shadow said there are people bigger then me at my gym, but I out lift most of them(most have me ranked top three in the gym)....anyways..big is a combination of things I think..not only size, I think strength is in there along with attitude...Outside the gym, anyone is not the normal weight of the time...like today, say 200-225lbs(dending on ht) is considered big by alot...

I like the answer that big_guy1 gave. I know I am considered big at my gym. I'm 6'1", 250 pounds at 12% BF.

I think that being big got a lot to do with attitude...

Never big enough!
I have this damn mental picture of me that keeps me motivated.
I look at myself and still see someone that is too fat, or not thick enough, or not strong enough, etc...
It is a sickness I tell ya!

BIG TO ME IS WHEN YOU CAN AT LEAST LIFT TWICE WHAT THE NORMAL JOE DOES IN THE GYM.
ITS WHEN NORMAL CLOTHES DONT FIT ANYMORE, THE SLEEVES ON YOUR SHIRTS BARLEY STRETCH AROUND YOUR ARMS, AND YOU HAVE TROUBLE REACHING FORWARD, BECAUSE YOULL RIP YOUR SHIRT IN THE BACK.
STUFF LIKE THAT MAKES ME FEEL BIG.

It depends.
In my country if you weight more than 180 pounds and you are muscular, you will be considered big. People here is usually fat, with zero phisical activities.

Last suit I bought was a nightmare. i am not massive or anything. Just decent size. 5'11 at 200-210. I had to get seperates. The fag at the suit place told me to stop going to the gym or you will never buy a suit. They had to sell me seperates. The jacket that fit me had pants that were for a fat boy!!! I have a 33 inch waist.

there is ALWAYS someone bigger than you and those smaller and the normal folk will downplay your accomplishments. Be the biggest you can be and go by the mirror, dump the scale. Quality over quantity every time.

Reverse Anorexia is what most of us have. It means that no matter how big we get, we see ourselves in the mirror as the person we were before weight training. I can walk around at 220 or 240 and think that I am small sometimes.

Bigness is relative. When you are the biggest person in a given area, then you are big, I think.

I'm only 174lbs. At school I'm "big" cause everyone is either a stick or a fat shit. When I walk into the gym, I'm not "big" anymore. =(

It's subjective.
Ask anyone here what "lifting heavy" means and you'll 25 different metrics.

I guess if you have to ask, you're not there yet.

Well in my book, big is when you walk into a place and everyone starts to stare or whisper to one another secretly. You know they are saying, "Damn! Look at that mother-fucker, he is big as shit!".
OR you have people approach you with all kinds of stupid remarks and shit. Like I went to the Chinese Buffet for lunch with my mom the other day, some old guy, a waitress, and some chinese people sitting at a big table all came up and said something in reference to my size.
Honestly, that kind of shit makes you feel good as shit, because Yes we do think we are small no matter how big we get but then you get those stares and commments that tell you, "Hey, maybe I am big." And for a while you do feel big.

I'm about 5'11" - 6'00" tall. The most I have ever weighed was right around 250 lbs. I was thick as shit. I didn't look that damn great, but I loved being that big. I haven't lifted serious in over 2 years now. I currently weigh about 210. When I'm wearing a white t-shirt, I still have people saying, "Damn, dog, you lift alot, don't ya?". Being big is extremely relevant to WHO you are hanging around.

It's so true that a lot of us have Bigorexia. I handle that by not looking in the mirror until the end of the week(well a quick sneak peak here and there w/ a tight shirt on). When you finally look in the mirror you'll be shocked at your improvements. But it soon fades out after you flex your new physique in the mirror 50 more times that day. I just try to remember the feeling(w/ the increase body weight and size) I had when I first looked in the mirror and I feel big again.

I had the same problem. I can't buy a suit anymore ( 5'11'' , approx. 210 but this goes up and down). I have a 32-33 inch waist and the only jackets that fit me are designed for men who have huge guts. The only way I can get a good suit is from a tailor.

I consider myself "big" in that sense but not "huge" or "massive".

Most people consider you big if you walk into a club and people are flexing in front of you and ask you how you look that way. Of couse when women are starring at you that is another sign.

yeah, I tried to buy a suit. I knew I had problems when the Chinese tailor came out and said "suit no fit you". I had to get a 48 jacket and a 35" pant. they would not mix and match either. So I said fuck it and bought a sport coat.
