I'm travelling overseas and was wondering if anyone knew about the availability of AS in these locations..... Aruba, Tortola, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico (US I know), Curacao. Thanks for any advice

Sounds like a nice cruise to me. The Big Red Boat Perhaps? I don't have a clue bump

No, Jay, the Big Red Boat went bankrupt. One of the BRB's also sank in the Atlantic ocean after being seized by the bank. Minimal crew was onboard, and nobody was lost. I work on a cruise ship......be travelling to those countries for four months strait. Be glad to help anyone who can help me....

I would imagine it would be hard to get anything around the tourist centers of the islands you are visiting. You could probably find a few things in the more "native" parts of the islands (but they could be dangerous for a foreigner). Basically, you might find one or two things but it will be risky.

I'm not worried about my safety on the islands. In each place we are visiting, I have friends on the ship I'm going on who are natives and will be accompanying me. I was just wondering if anyone knew if any of these countries were known to have AS. Curacao is Dutch, for example, and I hear the Dutch do a pretty good amount of AS and seem to be less stringent about all illegal drugs by US standards.

I'm not sure on the legality, but I would tend to believe that if there is gear there it would be scarce. ------------------

I was going to mention that the island owned by the Netherlands would be your best bet but you must remember that the poorer the island, the less access they have to medicine. They may sell it to your friends but they may not have AS in stock or only have a small amount in stock.

Yes, but Curacao is not poor at all. Typically, cruise ships (especially the ones I ride) don't go to poverty areas, so every place I go to is fairly wealthy due to the tourism money.

There is a huge difference between the average income per capita of the natives of the island and the money brought in by foreign investment. The tourist areas and some surrounding will look amazingly rich but the landless majority live in shacks at the other side of the island. I saw this first-hand when I lived with a friend on Martinique for 3 months. There is a huge income gap there. I do not know Curacao so my example may not apply there. Just go and try and see what happens (and don't forget to update us on it).

I agree that there are some "tourist" areas and still poverty. Still, most tourist areas have good health care. If they don't, the tourists don't wanna come. Curacao is pretty developed economically due to the oil refinaries on the island. I'll keep you updated....still looking for some knowledge here guys... |
