I don't think there are any studies out there to say that cycling your calories will help you lose any more weight then taking in an average amount of calories every day.. How do you know your metabolism will adapt to the upper limit of the calories (speed up), and burn more fat on lower calorie day? It could just as easily adjust to the lower half of the calories (slow down), and store fat when the calories go up! Or just burn the same!!! Also calorie cycling leads to binging in alot of people.
If you really wanna cycle I've got a way that I think will work better then doing 2-high/2-low calorie days: Do your average calories, and every 3rd-4th day cut your cals in-half. Theres not much to it, but I would think theres alot less chance in your metabolic rate slowing down.
The metabolism can change very quickly. I'd say its not a good idea to try to fool it any longer then a day. I've done my own research and have found when I lower my cals for a day or more my oral temperature, heart beat, and blood pressure go down quite alot (temp 97.3 to 95.5, hrt 50-46 bpm, bp 120/70-107/60.) I assume this means the basil metabolic rate is decreasing. I also lose about a pound or two in water weight. Thats only one day and my metabolism has already caught on!!! But this is just me, everyones different. Just realize there is no 'miracle' way to lose weight or everybody would know it by now...
My advice is to try each diet and see what works for you. Sometimes the only way to find something out is to figure it out for yourself.
I know this is not the information you want to hear. Everybody seems to want the 'straight' answers.
