You use Creatine? Should I!?!?

I'm 21, 5'8, and about 135. I'm a little skinny shit. I want to start taking creatine. Actually I want to start taking anything that will help me get stronger and bigger. Well at least stronger. I have heard some really good things about it but have never taken it. I ehard it would put on some water weight which I don't need right now. I'm entering my first powerlifting meet at the end of next month, I can only gain 3 pounds and get in the class that I need to be in. What do you recomend? Take it, and if so how much and how often? Or just leave it alone?

Creatine I take it and a week before a meet I get off of it at least to drop some water weight b/c it will put weight on. I use efervescent b/c it's suppose to help out speed and with dynamic bench and all I need speed also for cleans. I would say since your body can only take in 2g's a day of it. A simple 5g's a day will do. Your body produces and uses daily 1.5g of creatine. Certain foods like hering(spelling), chicken, some meats have creatine in them so you are getting creatine without taking the powder. I would honestly suggest putting on some weight man ur 5 8 135 holy shit take a mass gainer and creatine and you'll put on some weight with putting on strength. I know myself i'm 17 5 9 170 right now competing in 168 for my high school and after april 10 our last meet i'm going up to 185 so I can cut down to 165 and compete there, but still train above my weight for weight class and shit like most guys on here do. Either way good luck and I hope you decide to put on some weight.

Can some other guys help him out

creatine

take creatine and b12 along with some protien. you should start packing on the mass. as long as strength goes creatin works good for explosive movements. but thats something i noticed when i was on it. after about two weeks on it you should start seeing some gains. you will gain weight on it and it will be mostly water weight. but that will go away after you get off of it.

Creatine makes me get cramps in my back while benching. I will never use it. If you really want to get bigger and stronger the answer is not at GNC.

BTW, I am a shade shorter than you and about 90 lbs heavier. I don't know if the size difference affects whether you will get cramps or not, but it might. I read that the Westside guys in Ohio were also getting cramps from Creatine, and they are mostly pretty big guys.

Just my 2 cents.

Exodus,

Not a real big arch, just a bit of one, but I squeeze my shoulderblades together as hard as possible, and flex every muscle in my body as hard as I can. When doing that on a bench, and this was taking a heavier single after my speed work, I got a huge cramp in my left lat. The pain was mostly in my middle back. I never had it before doing the creatine, and I have never had it since stopping it, so I don't know what else to blame it on.

Well, creatine can dramatically increase the need to remain hydrated. If your water intake does not go up accodringly, and there is no set scale, you can have some problems. Also, this *may* make it hard to maintain the proper balance of minerals required for your body to achieve optimal performance. And on a slightly related note, when my calcium levels get low, my back starts to cramp as well, and this is increased by creatine intake, in my case only.

I feel the benefits of creatine on assistance exercises, but never on the core lifts, as they are completed far to fast for creatine supplementation to make a difference. I never load, as I will spend more time in the bathroom than doing anything else during the loading phase.

IMO, creatine is one of the cheapest supplements to experiment with, and it is usually rather easy to tell if you are getting some sort of effect from it.

Well I know I really don't see much of a pump on it honestly, but it's always nice to know that it's there if you really need and about the loading shit it's true they put that on there so you'll go out and buy more thinking it's gonna work alot better. i honestly never heard of anyone getting cramps from it. I also see since I'm on it or since i've been on it i've been drinking 2 1/2-3 gallons of water a day, no joke if you see me on the street or at school anywhere doesn't matter i'll have a liter bottle of water on me.

the body can only take in 2 grams a day?? im pretty sure i saw better gains on 10 grams a day opposed to 5..
