You May Be Training Hard, But Are You Eating Enough?

I am curious about this. It seems like the people who are on cycle, or are naturally lean put on muscle mass on the "EAT EVERYTHING" diet.

How about the people who are doing it naturally, and who cannot get lean without a very restricted diet. Can they also keep up with this kind of eating? I mean muscle can only grow at a certain rate, and all the overspill of calories will go directly into fat. This is what I am noticing now. I am eating extremely clean, and A LOT of it, but all I am getting is fatter and fatter even with intense training.

I am one of those people with genetics that don't respond kindly to the see-food diet, as I have discovered recently after attempting to "bulk" for the first time over the past two months. In future, I will employ a level of moderation that keeps fat gain in check, because I've got way too fat way too quickly.

The answer to this question is simple:

1. metabolism

and

2. muscle mass.

If there is a combination of the two, it is harder to put on extra fat, unless the diet contain and incredible amount of calories. The more muscle you have, the easier it is to burn calories.

That would make sense in my situation, louden. I'm 5'8 and not the most muscular guy in the world. On top of that, my metabolism isn't great.

I think you are pretty lean. . .certainly not heavy fat storage.
