Wow! Roid rage reared it's ugly head tonight!

I'm 3 weeks into my first cycle (dbol and Sustanon), and have not seen any side effects yet. No acne, etc. But tonight at dinner, a friend made an innocuous offhand comment, and I completely lost my temper and started yelling. I don't know if it was roid rage or the effects of a full moon, but my guess is that it was the former. Damn! I thought I would be able to control the rage or feel it coming on, but I didn't and couldn't. The funny thing is, my friends then asked me if I was on steroids!!! I wear very baggy clothes, so they wouldn't notice my gains, and I was surprised by their question. So my question is: do most of you get roid rage at some point, too? Does it get more uncontrollable the further into a cycle? Or is once a twice a cycle about it? Thanks!

i believe it's a myth and just in your head, i have a temper and it never makes me more angry. it can make u think your a tough guy tho thinking u need to prove something. probably just a full moon

Driving is the worst for me but i think roid rage only happens when you let it. If you dont let things get to you you'll be fine. I find im more moody or easily angered but i don't snap all the time.

No such thing as roid rage... steroids make you a little more short tempered than usual but you're still in control...

If you fly off the handle don't blame it only on steroids.

Damn, I was hoping I could blame showing my ass on the gear! So I'll keep juicing, and just stay away from the full moon! Thanks for the feedback.

I wouldn't dare say there isn't such thing as roid rage. If your an emoitional person natrually, then some substances will intensify that characteristic. Some more than others, for instance im calm and collected on fina, and Im naturally pretty on edge, but even a little testosterone will make me over the edge. Things escalate so fast that I don't have time to think "im not going to let meyself get mad" Especially if you get so fucking mad you can feel it OVERWHELMING you down in your gut.

until 2 weeks ago, i thought it was a myth.

but when a very close friend of mine said something outta line, i flipped out and was in his face begging him to make a move.
thank god he just walked away because he is a close friend.

to most, roidrage does not exist. but in those of us who are hot tempered (like myself) roidrage is a harsh reality.

the chief is right. Roid rage is a myth created by the media. Sometimes when i start a cycle i get a little bit more short tempered for a couple weeks then i mellow out. Before using steroids i was colder and meaner. Now im kinder and more sympathetic towards people........i think it may be from the test aromatizing, who knows.

AAS make you more prone to aggressive outburts, you can call it whatever you want.

Roid rage is not a myth.... Testosterone makes you more aggressive and for some people this leads to roid rage. Not everyone becomes a raging maniac, but for some roid rage is definitely a possibility. It brings the asshole out in some people. Me personally I do notice that I have a shorter fuse while on.

it is not a myth - though everyone's different

best controlled through self awareness

given a highly tense, frustrating, stressful, or generally anger-provoking situation it is like gas on the fire

if you have emotional issues to start with watch out

For Me it makes it no harder not to lose my temper, I am no more pissed of than usual...BUT it is WAY harder to control once I lose it if I am on. I notice a distinct difference in my mood between different gear too, be it dht derived or what not.

I think it is real, but CAN be controlled by anyone with half a brain. The first time is gonna happen, but from then on change your attitude and grow up.

If ur an asshole the asshole will come out on juice. If ur a dickhead it will show. I believe roid rage is more common in High school kids. Thinking they are tough and looking to explode. I have been on the edge and snapped a couple times on fina and some will do that because of emotions. But I believe over 70 % of the time its the dickhead in u. My .2 cc's. Bottom line is how old are u kid. and dont become one of these assholes, shut the fuck up and get huge.

TTORO

Unless I am driving, i'm usually calm. I lose my temper very easilly if I am behind a wheel though, weather "on" or "off."

Sick of this shit personally.

What, you weren't in control of your actions and you started yelling :bawling: ?

Bullshit - It's either

A: The same phenomenon when kids smoke fake weed (oregano) in high school and still act stoned; ie, melodramatics

or

B: You're excusing your behavior through roids

The results are:

You look like an idiot.

And make the rest of us look bad with these "Roid rage" posts.

Grow the fuck up.

"Roid Rage" - the 'uncontrollable rage' definition used in some legal trials, IS a myth.

If you can't handle a little test, go see a fucking therapist.

just wondering how old you guys are that cant controll your rage.I think if you can controll it maybe you shouldnt do AAS.Wait till you mature a little more 1st.everyone knows the difference between right and wrong, dont balme it on anything or anyone if you make the wrong choice.

If you cant control yourself then this should be your last cycle. Irresponsible use is the main reason AAS was outlawed and continued irresponsible use will be the reason they dont decriminalize it for use outside of medicinal.

well said.

May I jump in and put a girls perspective on this issue? I am new to this forum but not to BB,or roids. My BF uses and Ill tell you what- call it what you want- theres names for everything pertaining to moods & such... chemical imbalance, moody, pms, getting 'high',and roid rage. they all describe the same basic thing- an exaggerated version of how you feel. roid rage is not as concrete and awful as the name says, but it CAN be, depending on the situation. Just like PMS- when your hormones expirience a shift and your body is trying to adjust, your chemical levels in the brain shift too- causing abrupt moodyness ect... My BF cycles once in a while- he is more 'moody' when coming out of a cycle. The cycle in his case helps to maintain his levels and keeps him more 'pleasant'. He is naturally a kick fire person when it comes to getting mad- so when his levels are spiking on a cycle , this makes it even faster in his case. Ive been with him nearly a decade and I knew when he was 'under the influence'. Also to boot- Alcohol made him even worse!! He is usually a very 'happy' person drinking, but on a cycle- nope. Drinking already inhibits your right frame of mind and so he'd snap in a heartbeat, and then since he started to feel that way from 'snapping'.. he'd completely loose it- it'd snowball. went down a flight of stairs once, got chocked once, got thrown into a wall, smacked up behind my head... you get the idea. And I shit you not- all this over a teeny-tiny- comment or look-whatever. nothing you would think would even provoke a fight- nonetheless an all out brawl. when completlely off the cycle- he'd be his usuall. Its when he would first go 'on', and 'off' the cycle. Roid rage IS a harsh word, yes you should all be grown ups and control yourselves, but a chemical imbalance is-just-that. And there is nothing to forewarn you of a spike you will have. And so when it hits- it hits fast. Somepeople cant think fast enough to control it, and it might even freak them out, causing it to be worse. I dont think badly of roids or the rage people expirience. It happens. Just wish there was a better way to know when its coming. Just like when I PMS once a while. I wish I could tell when something was about to set me off. But then again if we all knew - we wouldnt be human. The only thing we can all do - is know what sets it off- and tell yourselves ahead of time how you will MAKE yourself react. If you know you feel your blood boil real fast and freaky - tell yourself " I WILL walk away for a moment to recollect my thoughts. " better to look a little odd walking off than to look real imature and stupid spouting off over something so inate... Thats my infintie wisdom-haha. hope y'all dont mind my view. Just thought it might help to see things from the 'audiences' side. :redhot:

for all of you that "rage" when on uncontrollably you have got serious problems. maybe make you irratable a little more but thats about it

lmao, yep, better stay away from the full moon then.

Frackal -- Why are you being so ugly? There was no reason to insult me. I had a short fuse and blew up at a friend, and I asked if such things really happen on steroids -- whether roid rage is real -- or whether it was something else that made me get nasty. It was a simple question, and it seems like I'm not the only person who has experienced a sudden angry outburst. And I'm hardly a kid who needs to "grow up," nor do i need to see a therapist. This board should be a place to get some answers and feedback from other people who are in similar situations, and not a place to get slammed and insulted for asking an honest question.

Frackal has been in a bad mood lately...

AAS alter your chemical balance and your personality to some degree. Obviously some people will be affected more than others. For me, I get a little bit aggressvie but nothing major but how can I tell someone else how they should be feeling or what side effects they should experience? The same compounds may react very differently from individual to individual.

Sounds to me like you have a case of "tough guy syndrom" I have seen this before in guys that think they are to big and bad for their own britches. The cure for this is when you mess with the wrong person and he beats you until you are cured.
Roid rage is a bunch of shit. Everybody wants to lift weights and take steriods thinking they will be a "Tough Guy" these days.
Don't blame it on roid rage, you acted like an asshole and leave it at that.
Oh yeah, just in case have your parents lock you in a cage on the next full moon.

SELF-CONTROL

There seems to be 2 types of propaganda being circulated about AAS use.

1. US government propaganda villifying steroids and overstating or outright lying about side effects.

2. Steroid advocates who claim there are virtually no side effects and they do not influence your personality.

KARMA FOR YOU!

Excellent bro!

With increased androgens comes increased aggression. But this is NO reason why you shouldn't be able to control it. People with weak willpower and a temper will blame it on the roids. Personally I'm angrier OFF cycle than on. If you can't control your aggression on steroids, then you really need to choose some less androgenic compounds or take control of your emotions. Use the fucking aggression in the weight room, not in a social setting.

This wasn't intended to be a flame to anyone specifically, just a comment in general.

"Wow! Roid rage reared it's ugly head tonight! "

Thread title was what initially set me off ... a major pet peeve of mine is when people blame angry actions on steroids....it's simply not warranted 99% of the time.

i'd have to say roid-rage is a terrible term to describe it, but you all can't deny that some people MAY be emotionally altered when on a cycle. there are physiological reasons why there is a POSSIBILITY for altered behavior. just like some people when they drink. some are always happy partygoers, some are typically happy but easily irritable, while others are just plain assholes every time they drink. shit look how easily a bad night of sleep or a small amount of stress at work can bring out the asshole in people.

i think someone else summed it all up though. if the irritability takes over, and you find youre constantly losing control, you shouldn't take roids. just like those assholes that can't handle their alcohol - then stay the fuck away from it.

my point is, there's alot of things that can make someone lose their temper. roid-rage in the sense of the term may not exist, but the irritability and aggresiveness can be a very real thing. its up to the person to control that.

but i agree with what many of you said, no one can use roids as a scapegoat for being an asshole.

i can tell it changes my mood. nothing i cant control though. i even see it in the music i listen to (has to be only metal when "on").
i guess i only get "aggresive" or whatever when im alone. (ie. driving) when im around people im fine and would challenge anyone to tell if im on or not based on behavior.

i cannot believe that people still blame roids for their asshole temper. for the love of god..........

when someone describes there temper as "roid rage" cause there on i think of that as an uncontrollable temper. If thats the case then one you shouldn't be doing it.two you should seek anger management help - seriously. i have a bad temper but i can always control. getting mad while dricing and shit is normal but when u dont have control over it u need to seek help regardless of what you are on

What I experienced was a quick outburst, and I wasn't expecting it, so didn't know to control it. Now that I know that such things can happen -- regardless of what you want to call it -- I'll be more aware of it and will be able to control it. I'm hardly the aggressive type, so I was pretty surprised by it, as was my unsuspecting friend. To be forwarned is to be forearmed!

i would say the juice would be like alcohol kind of in this instance..

it just brings out the behavior in people that maybe be prone to it.

also another possible cause of the temper is over-training and the fact that you're on a diet. also i think the reason for the whole stir with "roid rage" is because alot of the publicity was coming from teenage boys, who are already kinda hostile as it is. i wouldn't really worry about it. it's all about self-control. just make it a point to control yourself you feel yourself starting to flip out.

i won't say that it is totally a myth as the higher test levels will lead to a lil higher likelihood of aggession, but it's not an excuse.

Juice gives me a sense of well being......so while most are ranting & rageing i'm over here being my happy, mellow self:)

crmdogg - u said u never used anabolics so what r u talking about ? o thats right, you used winny - so that gave you rage  get real bro

I've been on very high doses and very low doses... makes no difference in my mood... at least that I can tell. However, I do seem far more confident, cocky, arrogant, and "in-control" when on though. But I don't fly off the handle.

I do think there is validity in the chemical imbalance causation. It is quite unwise to say that steroids do not cause certain inequities... because clearly they do. How you choose to respond to an elevated level of agression is subjective. One can choose to thwart their dominance, or subdue it. It should be left in the weight room though... and there is no excuse for social boorishness.

you won't like me when I'm angry.

I'm extemely short tempered and irritable. If someone cuts me off in traffic or rides my bumper, I want to yank them out of the car and stomp their ass.
