Working out at home vs. gym

I'm just wondering where most of you guys work out and why you prefer on over the other. Thinking of setting up a home gym but don't have much space, but on the other hand there are all the morons you guys have described in the gym. So what to choose?

IMHO, i'd go to a gym and play my own music and surround yourself in a quality gym not one that young kids are at...just so you can get teh gym experience and have ladies there for some motivation!!!

Training at home you isolate yourself. You can never get new ideas from other guys that workout, and you might not get an idea of how hard you're supposed to train.
There's alot to be learned in gyms, it's not just better equipment.

You also are very limited in how much you can vary your workouts, a pay gym will always have more equipment then you'll have at home, and they are always getting new things.

OH MAN.....don't even get me going on kids. i used to work out at a ymca close to my home and at 6-7o'clock there were always little 10-12 year old fuckers running around the gym! i'm trying to superset rope pushdowns with reverse grip pull downs and obviously it takes up both sides of the cable crossover machine! having a killer set....bang....bang.... one to the other then you leave one bar and the little fuckers run over and jump in.they change your bar take the pin out and play with the machine!!!!!!!!!!unbenounced to the sign on all the walls NO CHILDREN UNDER 14 WITHOUT A GUARDIAN!! then when you tell them to beat it they go tell the manager.little FUCKERS!!!

I just found for me personally I couldnt' work out at home. I tried it, but there are too many distractions around. Phones ringing, dog barking, people ringing the door bell, the UPS guy out front, and on, and on.

I can go to the gym, leave my pager and cell in my truck, and I have a hour away from the rest of the world...i lOVE it!

Pros & cons with either option. I W/O at home, have everything I need and wouldn't trade it for a gym.

Later,

I defenitely like working out at gyms more than home... There's only so much that you can do at home without much variety from day to day, plus if you ever have questions or are just looking for something new there's always trainers or someone who may know a little more than yourself about various exercises, and most people are willing to describe shit to you if you just ask them real quick "hey, whats up with that exercise i saw you doing" or whatever... You can't get that at home...

Plus the expense of having a home gym is a minus and the women at pay gyms are a bonus ;)
