I'm pretty new to this board, and have yet to post, but I told my wife I would try to get her help with a problem she has. We had a child 6 mos. ago, and due to him being so big (10lbs. 2oz.) her stomach (skin) really streched out. She is convinced that the only way to correct it is through plastic surgury. We have done some research on the topic, and I'm not sure what to think about the scar that is left after the fact. Its a scar that goes basically from hip to hip. She recieved advice after our first child that involved some type of seaweed and that after rubbing it in and wrapping her stomach in plastic wrap, it would help to replace some elasticity in that region. Has anyone heard of this? Any advice or tricks that you can give would be great. Thank You. And my wife thanks you too!!

Perhaps sh should give it more time. I had a 10 pounder, myself, and although it took almost a year, the with proper diet and trainign, the skin di go back. I know it doesn't work that way for everyone, but giving it more time might save you a buck.

Does she have stretchmarks or just loose skin? If she has lots of stretchmarks then, the only way to get rid of the skin is through a tummy tuck, but if its just loose skin without stretchmarks she needs to just give it time and workout hard and eat right and it should go back in time.

I have had 3 kids that weighed between 9 and 10 lbs at birth (aged 11, 8, and 4 now) and I have stretch marks, but I use Mederma (a topical ointment) and I "drybrush", which is basically to use a loofah sponge or a natural bristled brush to exfoliate my skin. I haven't had much success with using cocoa butter or vitamin E which some people swear by. My stretch marks are not that bad and are not noticeable. Of course, though, surgery is the only permanent solution.

Your wife just had a baby (congratulations!) and it's been only 6 months..I agree with BG, give it time and keep exercising and eating right.

Good luck!

It is very possible for her skin to "snap back" after only one child. It wasn't until I had my third that my skin got to the point of no return. Of course, most of this is determined by a number of factors: genetics, age, weight gain. After my 4th was nearly 8 mos I did have an abdominoplasty where they did remove a full 12" of skin, no lipo, just lots of excess icky skin.... all a distant memory now! :)

I agree w/those before me to have her give herself some more time. After all, it did take 9 full months for her to stretch that skin out to begin with!

I wouldn't recommend surgery unless she was VERY SURE that there will be no more children.

Thank you everyone for the input...All your help is appreciated!!!:) Thanx!!:)

First, try to calm her! HA i know how she must feel, have you had any success yet? So having the scar im assuming she had a C-section?? Also, is the strech marks and scar below or above the belly button? I would give it time like all the other ladies have state. At least a year before making any descions. Does she workout? Cardio?
