when i'm wanting to gain muscle, i eat a lot of calories and a lot of protein. i try to get ~1.5-2.0g/lb of protein per lb of LBM.

well i used to use naturade whey protein and naturade soy protein. the whey was like 90% of the protein. i had some soy every day, but it was easily the minority.

WELL I USED TO HAVE THE WORST PROTEIN FARTS ALL THE TIME!!! LOL

anyway, for like the last year i've been using proteinfactory. this is GENERALLY what i order:

25% Aussie Caseinate
35% Iso-Chill Whey Isolate
15% Soy Protein Isolate
25% Whey Protein Concentrate

and i don't really have any protein farts at all??? i don't get it. i kind of miss them. ROFL must be something to do with how these proteins digest. maybe since i'm mixing protein types, they're digesting at different rates? what you think???

personally I think it has to do with whey concentrate....I never got gas from shakes untill I started using concentrate as opposed to isolate

your body gets used to it
in more technical terms, your body has a feedback mechanism that increases the enzymes which break down various macronutrients when an increase in the macronutrient is seen, the mechanism is delayed however, so with a change of diet it takes some time for your body to adjust the number of enzymes of each type it produces in able to break down the protein properly. What you experience when increasing protein is a lack of protease enzyme, resulting in some of the protein you eat, not being digested and frementing in the stomach causing gas. Also, a lower concentration whey protein such as concentrate will cause gas moreso than a higher concentration whey protein via a different mechanism of which i have no information...

I'm experiencing that now, and it sucks. Diet and protein intake is exactly the same, just switched from allthewhey unflavored isolate to optimum nutritions choc mint
