Why are the guys in muscle mags always wearing military boots to train in?

I would have thought that the heel on those types of boots is too high, and that there wouldn't be enough arch support. But they look pretty darn cool.

What are the best boots/shoes to lift in? (BTW - I think Otomix look like shit - are they really the best?)

I wanna wear the chunky military boots, unlaced like in the muscle mags.

What about Doc Martin's? I have some left over from my punk days.

Oh, yeah, and I also want to wear tight leather and chains - you know, like the chicks in the mags who wear chains with some patches of leather up top, and the tiniest leather shorts they could find to cover the triangle where their glutes meet in the small of their back.

Do you mean the stereotypical combat boots/tuff guy or combat boots/gay guy? :FRlol: (j/k)

Maybe it makes their dicks bigger?

Ha ha ha ha.

What are FMB's?

And what's the difference between tuff guy and gay guy combat boots? Colour co-ordination?

I suppose I shouldn't ask what gay girl combat boots look like ... (Mmm, I could just go look under my bed, lol!)

Oh, wait a sec, I don't have a bed!

But really, are those boots optimal in any way for lifting?

I wonder what the tiny tiny black leather shorts with the lacings up the side feel like on heavy squats? I wonder how long it takes for the chain impressions in your belly to go away after all the Valsalva manoeuvring?

Bwaaa ha haaa haaa!!! This is a cool thread! PLEEEASE tell me spatts, WHERE do you wear that chain-mail bikini, and may I come and join you if you have somewhere outdoors to do it! Did you get weird tan? lol!!!

I'm just kidding about the tiny leather shorts and squats - I wouldn't wear them to my grubby gym! I like tiny LYCRA shorts for squats. They stretch to accomodate the ....... er, movement. I have these men's lycra swimming trunks/shorts - as tight as a speedo but they cover the top of the thigh (just barely). And they dry off fast.

I just think it's hilarious what they show chicks working out in in the mags.

About my bed - no, there isn't enough space in Tokyo for everyone to have a horizontal bed, so they have these vertical mattresses that fold down from the ceiling ..... you get used to sleeping standing up, although it's not very restful.

OK, I'm sorry, I'm TOTALLY talking shit - I'm sure you could tell from the beginning of this thread. Anyway, I have a futon - it's really quaint and cute when you first start using one, but after, say .... 2 weeks, you just want to roll the frigging thing OUT of the window, because you have to unmake it and fold it up and put it away every day, then do the opposite every night, and they're made of about a ton of solid cotton, so it's a good thing I weight train.

It's been eight years now .... sigh.

Not that anyone would know if I DIDN'T fold it up every day, but there is that social consciousness that maybe the gas lady will see and think I'm a dirty foreigner.

LOL

Ok...ok.....my husband wears some boots like that on leg day. His are from Cabela's magazine ( hunting outdoorsy type stuff ) and he says he likes to wear them because they support his ankle and give him some friction ..... I never argue with him over them , as long as he doesnt wear them to bed to create more friction :D

Hi-Teks are pretty good. Mine are old & worn out but, they have a tennis shoe type comfort with weight support of a boot. I have been wearing my nike running shoes while squatiing & ruined them. They are totally flattened as far as support goes but, I suppose they weren't designed to hold a 250lb man plus 405lbs of weight. You can see and buy a wide variety of them at www.uscav.com

WOW!!! What a totally cool site! I LOVE stores like that - ooh, this is dangerous. So, Hi-Teks are a type of boot, like those on that site? I put in a search for Hi-Tek, but it didn't come up with anything specific.

Wow, what a lot of cool-looking boots - wonder if they'd let me wear them to worK? (heh heh, in an office, LOL!)

So, the main point for lifting boots is that they have good arch and overall support? Should the ankle be supported? I mean, you need some flexibility there when squatting, don't you?

What 's the, er, friction for, ann?
