Hi I am setting up a gym management system for a small gym that I manage in the Caribbean I want to know who ever had experience in working in a gym could tell me what program did you use to create bar coded cards with picture taken. The program that I have do not incorporate in creating barcoded cards. What program do you use in creating ID Cards. And how you approach customers when their membership is expired and thay still want to walk through the door and work out Iam tired of asking people to pay up their gym FEES,,,,,F###33

i wish I could help you with the barcode program, Ive been working in gym since 1995, butdamn I cant recall the name of the program just the member check in program I know...theres many online placed that could help, do a search for health club management or anything similar keywords and you should finda few links.

As fas as members coming in, I am not sure how the gym is set up but when i was working in a gym they actually built walk way bars they went right up to the front desk so you could NOT sneak in w/o going to the desk, also some big gyms require you have a credit card on file and in the contract it will say something to the effect of the gym has the right to bill your card for monthly dues once the are due. Also your workers should be told to not in anyway let a person workout without paying, no matter how many years they have been a member...too many people take advantage of gym employees/owners and try to get away with working out for free.

how do your members sign in?

Well when I get the gym soft ware iam hopping they would sign using barcoded cards that they have to swipe through at the front desk they have to do this every time they come in...Its very true what you say about the last where I have members working out there for years ...its a small country where ever one knows each other and i have lost alot freinds where they want to take advantage of you to work out free...

HI Shayne
I use to work at a gym and I can totally relate to what you are saying. The owner of our Gold's Gym would constantly be asked by people for freebies, passes, etc. His solution to that problem was he appointed one person as the "go to" person. Therefore, if someone approached him about a freebie, his reply was "You need to talk to Rick. He is in charge of my gym. I don't have anything to do with the memberships". Of course, Rick was instructed to always be strict with them and treated them as customers, and not like special friends that needed a favor from the gym owner. This tend to work to the point where people figured they were not going to get anything free and they just stopped asking.
