who knows Depo-Provera here?

Ok, I asked for info in the Anabolic board, but nobody could help me.

I need to reduce my libido and was thinking of Depo-Provera to do it.

How much do women use for birth control?

Does anyone here have any idea what would be a safe dosage for a man?

Am I risking losing a lot of muscle mass with this?

Thanks for the info.

It is not a good idea at all the side effects on a woman are bad enough let alone a man.
I would look for another way to cure your high sex drive.

Migraine headaches, weight gain, not a lowered sex drive but no sex drive at all and once you get off depo your sex drive will never return to it original level. I am also certain that a shot of female hormons wouild be no good for a man. Probably work against any anabolics that you already taking.
I know that paxil lowers the sex drive why not give that a shot. Plus you can get paxil legally if you go to your Dr. and give him some signs of depression.

Very, very bad idea. I'm almost positive you're trolling us here, but if not...

SSRI's will lower sex drive, and inhibit your ability to preform and have an orgasm. Go with one of those before Depo.

Just because to you is an unusual question doesn't mean I'm trolling, but I can see how it could be misinterpreted as that.

Thanks for the info. I don't think Paxil would help, it doesn't attack the source of the problem.

Some of us have had bad experiences with weak hormonal contraception - Depo is way at the other end of the spectrum for most, akin to a horse kicking you in the ovaries. So you see why I thought it was a troll, most people would not willingly choose it. :)

What is the source of your high sex drive then? Can you not simply relieve yourself more times a day?

I hope you plan to pose this question to a doctor before you take anything, as there could be side effects which could impair your future fertility or alter your hormonal milieu for a long time.

I have heard of Depo-Provera being used as "chemical castration" to treat sex offenders.

I did come across this
Provera (medroxyprogesterone) and the long-acting form, Depo-Provera, are progesterone derivatives, used to treat violent sexual offenders. Provera reduces testosterone levels in males, and may also compete with testosterone for receptors in the brain. This may help reduce violent sexual fantasies, as well as reduce the actual behaviors. Side effects can include weight gain and increased blood pressure. You can find good discussions of this agent in the article by Gottesman and Schubert, Journal of Clinical Psychiatry 1993, vol. 43, pp. 182-188; and by O'Connor & Baker, Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica 1983, vol. 67, pp. 399-403. The Gottesman article also has numerous references.

Since it lowers testosterone levels, then it probably would cause a decrease in muscle mass. Then there's the weight gain factor. The listing of side effects says "approximately 5 pounds", they just forget to add per dose... As a woman I wouldn't touch this stuff even if it were the last birth control on earth. You can read why on this site http://www.abcinternetmarketing.com/depo-provera/ It is some evil shit.

Please get some real medical advice before experimenting on yourself with something like this.

Shit! Ok, not worth gaining weight over.

I just had enough of my body trying to control me, that's all, fuck nature, it hasn't been good to me at all...
