Actually nose guards and DTs are there more to occupy blockers so the LBs and DEs can make plays. Though they do make tackles and even sacks occasionally, Defensive Ends are the real pass rush specialists.

What about the "Split End" or "Wide Receiver" who gets "balls" thrown at him?
