Who here works a hard labour Job?

OK...
I got laid off doing computer work at the end of last year and have been a lazy ass since....
You know, lifting, preparing meals and sleeping a lot :p
My old job was not very labour intense, but the IT field just blows lately and I have been thinking about getting into something else...

Who here works a labour intense job, and how does it affect your training? I dont want to get something 'slave' like, if it is either going to eat up all my muscles, or make it absolutely draining to work out..
Thanks

Man,

first of all I am sorry to hear about your layoff!! I was also released in May 2002 from my intern position. It sucks finding a job, especially with a bad job market.

I hope you can find something in your field. I am not sure if finding a hard labor job is necessary, but if you need to pay the bills, it may be an option.

Good luck my friend!!

Thanks for the support Louden,
I'm actually not too concerned over the situation....
Employment insurance is going to be paying enough money to pay all my bills plus some for spending.. Which is significantly more than minimum wage... So I am going to take my time, and try to find something good....
I have 5 1/2 months to come up with work or they cut me off.. lol...

I think I'll make it.... I've been enjoying all the free time I've had so far... the first month has ripped by at a record pace... I'm finally learning to not hose money down the tube.... lol.. I blew a rediculous ammount of money in 3 weeks since I got laid off... now I have to be stinjy... Hopefully the cheapness will carry on in life.. lol

I'm just curious how labourous work effects the average joe's training... this would be my last resource for some monetary flow

I am sure things will work out for you. All you can do is stay positive and eventually something will come up. This is what I did. Believe me, unemployment does help!!! Five and a half months is plenty of time to find something. In the meantime you can focus on your studies if you are a student or your training.

DEFINITELY focussing on my training.... Hopefully the new stretch marks on my pecs are evidence that its working :)

BTW... I'm still super positive over the situation...

I have an extremly hard job ...well now that I have 8 years seniority it is only hard 2 days a week...the rest of the week I get to do relitivly easy jobs...but the tough day ...I pick orders for a magor grocery store chain ...you lift 30-50000lbs each day ....depends on the orders ...for instance an order in the bakery aisle ...where bags of flour and sugar and cake mix ..weigh in a 50 lbs a piece ....a 5000lbs order and 30 minutes to do it in is not unusual ....I don't know how the hell the little guys at my work do it! ...and to top all that off you walk 6-8 miles per day! These numbersa I am quoting are not bullshit ...at the bottom of the page of and order sheet it tells us how much the order weighs...you have to guess on the walking distance ...but i have measured it out with a pedometer.
As for how this affects my training ...you are pretty beat at the end of the day so preformance in the gym is usually not 100% of you best. most people that start at my job lose 10-15 pounds the first month ....the skinny and the fat.

My job is 8 hours or more outside labor. I find that i'm used to it, and I have consistently put on lean muscle mass and had good strength. Just keep hitting the protein hard!

I bust ass for 12-14 hours a day in the winter months (but work a normal 8 hour day in the summer) and it really makes it hard to give it everything you got in the gym.
My growth and recovery are MUCH better in the summer.
Sucks, but it pays the bills.
Stay in skool, kids! :D

i used to set up scaffolding for three years but recently quit. i handle about 70 pound frames of weight all day long.

i think it helped my back muscles alot and grip and forearm. overall it wasnt a bad job
