Who here trains alone?

I lift alone. I am intense and I am good at creating excellent energy. In fact, sometimes the gym is the only time during the day that i can really get pumped up.

No one at my gym lifts with the intensity that I do... and hardley anyone in my gym does a complete body workout through out the week. Hardley anyone in my gym does squats. NO ONE does deads or stiffies. I have even had trainers come up to me to tell me that the stuff i do is rare in the gym.

HOWEVER, i would PREFER to have a lifting partner. It helps boost my energy even more and i feel that I lift a little better when i have someone watching and yelling at me. I am not ego tistical, but i think i get more pumped when its time to show off the strength.

I lift alone. And enjoy it. However, if I could find a partner who lifted like I did, with the same goals as me, I think it would be very beneficial.

ive always trained alone. it would be cool to have someone to train with that was just as motivated as me

I train ar home, first off, so a partner was never really available. That's not to say that I'm not perfectly content with my training alone. It is nice to have a partner to talk to when you're waiting those long 3-4 minutes between intense sets. I've had a friend come over who just wanted to chill so I figured I'd get my workout done while he was there. It ended up going quicker than any workout I've had before.

Okay anyway, I don't need a training partner. Nor does anyone else for that matter, but like someone before me said, it's a mental thing. I get my motivation from:

1) Envisioning my future self - bigger, faster, stronger... GRR!
2) The insanely loud music blasting in the background, be it techno or death metal
3) Pooling all the shit people gave me to use as a source of anger and rage to get those weights up
4) Thought of being stronger and being able to protect my friends if the need arises
5) A big picture of a protein shake hanging on my wall, reminding me of what proceeds the intense workout! ;)

Just recently had to stop training with my partner because she wasn't committed to it the way I was. I was _her_ motivational force, and I think she misses not having me around anymore.

Now I workout at night when it is most convenient for me. Sometimes another buddy of mine works out at the same time; sometimes not. We're not always working on the same thing and often find ourselves on opposite sides of the weight room. If he does make it when I do, it's nice to see a friendly face. If not, I'm okay with that. Sometimes it's good to be alone.

The right person can really motivate you. Like Legion says, they're nice for those long rests between sets, too. Besides, they're handy to have around when you're doing 1RMs. :)

I also train alone. However I kinda get the best of both worlds. I don't have to adjust to anyone's schedule, and my workouts go a lot faster than with a partner. But the good part is, I can always find a bud who knows what he's doing to spot me when I need it. I've been at my gym for a couple years now so I've gotten to know the other regulars. And they're all good guys, always ready to help, as I am.

I have a good lifting buddy that is basically the same height/weight as I am. He's very close to my lifting numbers, and is just as driven as I am with the same goals. Its cool.

But, for if you need to use some of my old hardcore training partners, try these guys.....

Slipknot
Disturbed
Slayer
Soulfly
Sepultura
Pantera
SOD
Napalm Death

I thought I was the only one that worked out more intensely than anyone else in my gym - I find not one girl (all the girls in my gym are there to loose weight - not build muscle) and none of the guys do anything of great importance. I don't see anyone do deadlifts - squats and I just started seeing a few guys using the t-bar (and that was only after they say me doing it and had to ask me how to do it!). I only wish I could find a workout partner that was as intense as me - but on the other hand I do get in and out of the gym faster.
