There was a day when I hated fat people. That's because I was very fat once and they reminded me of myself:

But now that I am a little less fat I don't feel the same way. I feel as though I was nuts in some way for getting thinner-- I was happy then, untill I went on "the diet"

So I wonder if any of you people who hate fat people were ever fat?


Though I must admit guys who work out just a little and have big fat arms and think those arms are muscle do piss me off.

I used my 10" bicep to kick the ass of this chick w/ 15" arms at the gym about a week ago (arm wrestling... love it!)

So, yeah I'm with you there.

honestly was never fat in my life. always was skinny myself. maybe i worded it wrong. like for people to work out hard in the gym everyday and some guy just starts and thinks he/she is all ripped or whatever is an insult. ppl work hard to look good, a majority of us atleast. for someone who really doesn't look good and has fat hanging out of their shirt, a shirt meant for someone much skinner then them is just stupid.

goes back to my thread i posted not too long ago about people who think they are good but aren't shit. that is where a majority of those fat insults came from. its not insulting fat people but insulting fat ppl who think they look good. for the most part fat or overweight is not an attractive quality. that is why everyone is running their asses off on those thread mills, that is why we are all sweating lifting those weights and why some of us here are on steriods. that is why there are so many fat loss supplements, being in shape looks good. the only fat ppl i know are the people that don't care of themselves and don't work out. those are only the people i know, but considering that they do it to themselves and they can only help themselves.

fat is not attractive and i think its stupid how people are scared to even say that for fear of offending people. the truth hurts

But what about the fat person who doesn't want to be skinny? You say you have every respect for fat people who are "bettering" themselves through losing weight, but your idea of "better" is subjective. I won't pretend that I haven't conformed to the social doctrine that states that "thinner is better" but I also see it for what it is: a social 'truth' not an ultimate one. I personally wouldn't be happy if I were fat but for those who are, isn't that acceptable?

As for the fat people who lament their fat asses right as they remain sitting on them, yes, their inaction can aggravate me too. However I imagine a lot of them have eating disorders and so the matter of losing weight isn't as clear cut as it might otherwise be.

Okay, so call me naive. I think that, while some people don't consciously want to be fat (due to social pressures), subconsciously they do. And it's because of that subconsious wish that they fail to lose weight even when they try to diet. If anorexics want to be emaciated (read: unattractively thin), why is it so strange to presume that some women want to be fat? Just like the anorexic body is representative of something, so too is the fat body. For you or me the fat body may speak of lack of willpower, laziness etc, for others it may speak of something else. In Jamaica, for example, women take pills intended for chickens to make them fat. This is because, in Jamaica, fatness represents power, sexuality, wealth etc. In fact, the very things that we represent with thinness, they represent with fatness. All polar opposites meet in the middle: the grossly overweight person isn't all that different to the emaciated anorexic.

No one subconciously wants to be fat. It is the lack of will and drive to accomplish a simple task as eating what you need instead of gorging yourself on all available food. The problem with society today is that we try and pass the blame off on society! This is simply a shining example of a weak mind and the body suffering for it.

By the way, fat people bother me too. They do breath too loudly, some take up too much space in crowded areas making ME uncomfortable (i.e. buses, airplanes, movie theatres) and they definitely breath loudly. Plus, many smell really bad.

It's basically just this attitude that's had me going off on one throughout this thread. I too have had my fair share of anti-fat-people thoughts, like when one of 'em chooses to squash themselves in the seat next to me on the subway or slams me out of their way in a checkout line. However, I'm not so quick to take their fatness as evidence of a weak mind or assume they are inherently flawed because of it. I know many successful, driven, highly intelligent people who also happen to be fat. The fattest guy I know is also the self-made richest man in South Africa. If fat people all have such weak minds then there wouldn't be any on executives' boards or sitting in parliament or congress. They'd all be serving behind the counter at Dunkin' Donuts or sweeping trash on street corners.

I know I'm not going to shift your opinion on the matter though so I should probably save myself the energy of typing any more. I see where you're attitude is coming from - most of western society seem to view fatness like it's a personality trait - but that doesn't mean I agree with it!

So anyway, where were we? Mmm ... Peanut butter ... :p

I have made it a habit of posting my response to this thread every time it surfaces from the bubbling pit. I think this is the 6th time (i have been here awhile). The egocentrism expressed by the typical bodybuilder is absurd...

Are we, as a society, victims of our standard of living? Absolutely. Are we getting fatter year in and year out? Research proves this true. Is the number of obese people in American society appalling? Without a doubt, this is true.
Are fat people stupid, weak willed, or demonic? No. Leave them alone. It serves you no purpose.

Damning the fat to hell elucidates an incredible lack of tolerance. It makes you in the very least close-minded and perhaps down right bigoted. If someone chooses a different value system than yours or perhaps prioritizes things different than you, it does not make them less of a person.

I have several friends who are overweight, not because they can't control themselves, but because they have CHOSEN to focus their energies on non-physical pursuits. They decided long ago that they would rather pursue academic/spiritual interests with their full drive and not worry about the physical. Being fat does not interfere with them becoming the best they can be at what they have CHOSEN to do. They are still passionate, dedicated people whose scopes' vary from yours.

Now, don't get me wrong, there are overweight, out of shape people who are so because of weakness. I will condemn them right along side of the rest of you. You cannot simply look at someone on the beach and declare them worthless, however. You can't do this any more than someone can look at you and declare you a BIGOREXIC ROID-HEAD.

If you want to vilify, vilify those who lack passion and dedication. They are humanities real viruses.

my response pre-dates an epiphany i had. I realized my hate was caused by an anxiety disorder. I got medicated, and became a much more accepting person... i swear half of you fucks need medication (mr muscle begin tops on that list. get another hobby for christs sake;) )
