let's assume an 'all natural' person. and by all natural I just mean no steroids (seems we have to qualify that now)

which of these 2 statements is true?

1) as a person gains muscle, the body fights against it to get rid of the muscle the person has built because it wants to get back to its old homeostasis, the weight it was before the person started training. the more muscle the person gains, the harder the body fights back. it will be much harder to keep the 2nd extra 10 pounds of muscle than the 1st extra 10 pounds of muscle, because you are getting further and further from what the body knows is 'normal'

2) as a person gains muscle, the body creates a new homeostasis, or 'normal' weight. muscle memory is involved in the body changing, and the longer you keep extra muscle, the more the body comes to see this as 'normal'. as long as you eat in sufficient amounts and keep up your weightlifting, it will be as easy to keep an extra 20 or 30 pounds of muscle on your frame as it will be to keep an extra 5 or 10 pounds of muscle. your body just gets used to it.

which statement is true? which is false? 1? 2? Neither?

If your natural test/hormone levels are normal, then #2 is true over time.

wow, I really thought that would be a little more controversial, but I'm glad it wasn't cause #2 is what I had hoped was true.

thanks for your answers guys
