I have a waterproof heart monitor. If I am running sprints or mild jogging. If I swim laps and even try to maintain a decent speed I burn more. That full body but of course as you become efficient it will change.
I would say the calorie burn would be pretty similar. All methods of cardio burn roughly the same amount of calories.
You are kind of overthinking things man. Just get the cardio session in. That's the most important thing. Worrying about what form of cardio you are doing is nit picking.
