I Told You So ...
EF VIP
Ever bother making a list of things you definitely want to do before you check out?

I've got some basics in mind (in no particular order):

1. Travel across the U.S. by car.
2. Ride down the Grand Canyon on a mule.
3. See the:
A) Redwood forest;
B) Golden Gate Bridge;
C) Painted Desert;
D) Mt. Rushmore;
E) Aurora borealis.
4. Vacation in Key West.
5. Vacation in Oregon.

yes.... my number one is to

1.Raise my own family, and of course being the best father and husban
2.To visit EVERY country in Europe
3.To go hiking on one of the highest mountains in the world
4. skydiving & scubba diving
5. visit israel

Alot more but those were just on top of my head

Machu Picchi
Galapogos (sp?)
cruise the Amazon
run with the bulls
see a live space shuttle launch
climb the pyramids (yeah.. long shot)
apologize to a certain someone.
have sex with Brad Pitt. (right after I climb those pyramids)
visit the Maldives

well, by looking at yalls list, I don't give a shit about much...

1. I always wanted to go to Munich for Octoberfest. (but now I'm older, I don't thik that I'd like the crowds)
2. I'd like to go back to Hawaii ( but the airports and the plane ride for 6 hours was hell)
3. I used to want to go to Mardi Gras (see #1)
4. I want to go to Rio for Carnaval (but now I'm married)
lets see, I don't drink, don't do drugs, hate crowds or waiting in line. I'm not going to do anything that may kill me, got a kid now.
5. I think that going fishing in Costa Rica would be fun.
I can't think of anything really, I like to eat at Aw Shucks on Greenville in Dallas. I'd like to go back there at least once.
last, but not certainly least:
6. get invited to AAP's famous hat party. (but I'm not sure, I think that you have to be gay, idk.)

#4 You don't have to be drunk or high or even wait in line to have sex in the streets. Yeah, I know. I have been there and done that.

#5 Costa Rica = yuck!

I'd like to:

Go skydiving (may do that this summer actually).
Climb a very high mountain - not necessarily Everest but something really high.
Run a race in an exotic country.
Complete an Ironman.
Have a threesome with two gorgeous women (willing to pay for that one).

Almost all of mine have to do with travel.

I have to dive in these locations:

-Galapagos
-cocos island
-palau
-sulawesi
-red sea
-turks and caicos

I want to go to these for non diving reasons:
-seychelles (la digue)
-southeast asia (vietnam, cambodia, thailand)
-bhutan
-Greece
-Ireland

I want to see machu picchu, hike the husachan trail in china (look it up and tell me it doesn't make your hands a little clammy).

I want to dive the andrea doria before it falls to waste.

I want to dive with whale sharks, hammerheads, and do a CAGED dve with a great white (I'm not suicidal).

I've been to alot of places....but there's a few obvious ones i never been. I'd like to:

-Have a sick weekend in Tahiti
-Go to Egypt
-Go to vegas with like 10 grand (never been to vegas, surprisngly)
-GO back to austrailia
-live somewhere in western europe for a year or two and learn a language
-Go to Antarctica, so i can finally be able to say "I've been to every continent"

there's alot more, i can't really think of this shit on the spot

lol...nah...gotta do that one while I'm still fit and strong!

I'd settle for the El Caminito del Rey walkway in spain, but I'd MUCH rather do Mt Huashan.

what was the reason for them making that? you know?

Which one, hushuan or el caminito?

El caminito was a walkway between waterfalls for laborers. the paths to the peaks of Mt. hua shan were probably for religious reasons. Part of the path is called "the heavenly stairs," and there are a variety of temples on the peaks of the mountain. I have only a vague understanding of chinese culture but i know they place religious significance on their natural wonders.

By the way, though those pictures of the huashan trail don't show it, on that narrow walkway that's on the side of a cliff, there are now mountain climbing wires for you to clip onto, much like on the el caminito trail (though just for that walkway part). I'd definitely harness in for that part.

We eat there all the time. So when you comin over?

I used to have a list very similar to several posters before me:

1. Galapagos, Machu Pichu, Great Wall, Taj Mahal, Grand Canyon, etc.

I've done a lot of things that I never really thought about doing before I did them though, fitness/swimwear/commercial model, radio show, children's and adult books, big all "big and bad and intimidating" in business meetings (LMFAO - I am STILL chuckling over this last one), had the balls to move to a foreign country with nothing and knowing no one, not even the primary language and actually began to succeed, stood up to a crazy judge who shouted me down and had me hand-cuffed and still timid me absofuckinglutely refused to sit down - yea I was stuttering and crying and even begging but I did NOT shut the fuck up about my kids.... I've gotten a copyright and a trademark and had a small showing of my artwork in Paris, France in a really tiny place in the backyard of the Louvre. I even managed to find a good man to love who loves me too...

But now my list is really simple.

I just want to hold my children. I want to be a REAL mother again.

All I EVER wanted out of life was to be a good wife and a good mother. It seems that both elude me no matter what I do.

I've done everything on your list except Key West and the Grand Canyon, I hiked it. You should add hiking Glacier National Park to your list.

My list is a little more basic, find a decent wiminz. :)

Musclemom - driving from Dallas/Ft Worth to CA and back was more than enough for any one lifetime and it was hardly pleasurable!

Did I mention that my Old Grump and I drove from NJ to Dallas/Ft Worth just DAYS after we married?

So technically I did drive across the US just not in one shot and I have to tell you that NEITHER experience was one that I would care to remember... EVER.

Matter of fact I really don't get how my marriage remained intact after either experience! (not kidding)

I'm convinced vacations/trips are the test of a relationship. It's easy to get along when you have your space but when you're trapped together for days or weeks...:)

There are 3 towns on the Antartica, look it up. You only have a span of three months to get supplies and everything you need. Most of the people on Antartica are scientist and explorers.

1. learn to play the piano
2. Travel extensively
3. Get married and possibly kids
4. Go to an EF meetup :)

Cheat death at least twice
Get my resting heart rate permanently into the low 40's
Spend at least one year traveling each continent
Take a trip into outer space
Visit Mars

b0und (I plan on living for a while)

1. See my kids grow up to be happy, successful and independent.
2. Visit Italy and Greece.
3. To be debt free.....
4. Move out of Wisconsin....:)

Ok so next question would obviously be, for those that have simple things on their lists.... why haven't you done it yet. Why hold back?

I don't have anything simple on mine but my biggest reason is lack of time for the travel and lack of an equally adventurous traval/dive partner. I think I've found the latter, so I have a little more motivation to fix the former.

I'll agree with you with the emphasis on CAR vacations with your s/o, preferably around a camping trip, THAT's the real test of a relationship.

My husband and I get along fantastically during vacations, which are always driving and almost always camping, than any other time. We make each other laugh so hard sometimes over the dumbest shit. Our sex life goes through the roof. Stress and day to day bullshit really takes it's toll on us.

-travel to Poland to see where my grandmother grew up
-travel to Nairobi, Kenya to see where my father grew up
-see England, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Russia, Switzerland
-celebrate the Canadiens winning the cup in Montreal (again)

*raises hand*

build a house with just myself and the help of family/friends

ie no contractors. my future son will inherit it and it will stay in the family forever

sitting in the stands, on a crisp autumn night, under the lights, watching my son play middle linebacker (or any other position) for our local high school football team. . .that one experience would cross a lotta shit off my list. . .

someone I went to school with was given 6 months to live. He sold everything he had and his parents bought him a decked out RV (his uncle is Steve Forbes).

Anyhow..he went on a road trip.

Me personally, I would travel. Places I want to see on every continent.

Plus I want to go invade the Congo and kill off the meatheads ruining that country.

1. Have the opportunity to play golf everyday at a Troon course.

The way I figure it, if I'm able to afford to spend 6 hours everyday on the golf course with a couple hundred dollar green fee. Then I will be in a position to do almost anything I could possibly want or dream. This means I'm debt free, in good health and my family is doing well and doesn't require my time and guidance.

I'm not saying I would play golf everyday, I don't even like golf that much. But to have this as an option would be great.
