What's Wrong With This

So I was just brainstorming to come up with a simple diet, and I came across the protein pancakes thread, tried them, and they are great. So I started writing out a mealplan including the pancakes.

I came up with this. I'm about 160 lbs.
c/p/f

the cakes have eggs, oats, and cottage cheese (all good things right?)

3xservings of pancakes 96/111/63
2 shakes of whey, oats & pb 118/82/26
MMm delicious steak 0/35/20
vegetables -/-/-
1 cup of brown rice w/the steak 35/0/0
A few fruits thrown in there -/-/-

It comes out to approximately 249g carb/228g protein/89g fat per day. Most of the calories come from real food, only about 54g protein come from the shake. Can I expect to see good results(gitn biggr) with this or is there something terribly wrong I am not seeing? Thanks.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. The fats only come from the cheese, peanut butter, eggs, and beef. I guess could I throw the fish oils and flax on top of that or should I try to cut out some of the other fat.

At your weight, you do not need to cut the fat. Add a table spoon of flax oil to your shake. Add a salad to one of your meals. Throw chopped hardboiled egg whites on top of the salad. Mash up the hardboiled yokes and mix with lemon/lime juice and olive oil and pour over the salad. Eat fish (salmon or tuna steaks are easy) one to two meals a week.

Hey aekdb, thanks for suggesting the oil and lemon juice for the salad. It was soo delicious. What kind of salad do you get? Is iceberg lettuce alright even though its pretty much water?

just keep the oil out of the shake if its PWO, otherwise it will be beneficial to have it in there. what are the total cals your consuming?

All veggies are good. The fiber in lettuce is beneficial but you should mix it up a little. By the way, Cabbage is very good for you and taste great with lemon juice. My employer often buys us lunch and dinner. I often order a mixed salad without dressing. I carry a small container with the above homemade dressing. I find a large salad is a great way to get all my daily veggies in one meal, plus, since my boss is paying for it, I do not have to buy any veggies my self. The rest of my meals are the way I like them, meat with a side of meat.

Your fat sources are poor - cottage cheese? You need EFA's

woah buddy, wait a minute. back up...

peanut butter and eggs are poor sources of fat? who ever told you that?

eggs are probably one of the best sources for fats and proteins, period. and natty peanut butter is up there, though I prefer almonds.

not to be rude, but using fish oil caps isn't going to miraculously improve physique either. fish oil caps are on par with protein shakes as the most overrated dieting supplement ever.

there's nothing wrong with getting your fats from nuts, cheese, eggs and meat. in fact, it's quite healthy. what's wrong is getting your fats from yodels and ho-hos.

The PB is good, eggs are a OK fat choice, but cottage cheese is I thought one of the worst natural sources of fat (70% saturated).

There are many studies suggesting omega 3 increase fat oxidation abilities (not to mention other health benefits), so I still adhere to the view that they should be in the diet.

(Personally, I eat salmon instead of take supplements)
