motorcycle or car. I got up to 135mph before in my old formula firebird on the interstate, now im older and wiser and never go over 70.

dude this is seriously weird, i waas thinkin about this today and was gonna post the same thread!

123mph for me on a bike and was still pushin. i didnt have the balls and i had to slow down

I have a friend who was racing someone, had his WRX up to 165.....when he pulled over and popped the hood, the turbo was glowing red it was so hot......i don't think i'd have the balls to do that

yeah i was scared i was racing a mustang and the car was shaking and all im doing is looking to the up ahead for the police, didnt stay at that speed very long at all

Probably 85 in my car when I wasn't paying attention but 90 on a snowmobile....but that was intentional. :)

125-130 in a SS Camaro I had.

120 in my tbird-

there was a truck like 5 miles away - it came up so fucking fast i had to slam on the breaks and come to a skid stop less than 5 feet away from this dude, he musta been going like 15.

never been one for driving fast; I'm just too cheap to pay the ticket.....probably 90'ish. I hit 47mph on my bicycle and that didn't seem fast enough at the time.

werd- me and a buddy in college were heading back for curfew (we were in fb camp) and were doing ~125 for about 8-10 miles on lake shore drive in chicago on motorcycle....

going that fast in a car isn't even close.... if you wipe out on a bike you just disintegrate......

I can't believe we did that stupid shizat...

I do remember driving I 70 I think it is, between Denver and Col Springs, and the limit is like 75 MPH thru some twisty hilly interstate.
I was not comfortable at that speed and people were flying past me though..

That's a good point. I was driving on a road that leads to be Naval Base where I work. At the time the road was owned by the base and not the state. That's how I justified it in my head anyway.

You lose your license for like 60-90 days in PA if you go 30 over the speed limit... something like that anyway.

145 in my Cobra with 5 people in it. Still wonder what it would have done if I alone were in it.

Fastest Car i've ever been in top speed (wasnt driving): McLaren F1 Lm at Hockenheim Germany
Fastest Car 1/4 mile: mid 7's in a blown 496 drag cobra (not mustang cobra...) but the gearing was such that you couldnt get past 180 or so
fastest i have ever been was not in a car, but actually a modded turbo hayabusa reaching just over 200

i've long since quenched my need for speed and saw one of my friends hit a solid steel wall at 180mph, which resembled 150lbs of raw meat and scrap metal strewn about

I can peddle my sister's bike really really fast. It is no ten speed but it has a banana seat. How fast do you think I could get up too? No sound barriers, but I bet I can go pretty fast.

154 racing a C4 on the interstate, had to slow down as my exit was coming up. Only wish I had my 150hp shot of NOS completely installed when I was in this race. I can just imagine the look on his face. We were dead even from 110 til I slowed down. Fun stuff.

Viper

Never been above 110. Dunno how much more my crappy little '91 CRX has in it anyway, it may be good for 115-120 tops. It's completely smooth and comfortable at 110 though. I'll do 90-100 almost daily on the crosstown expressway.

Ive had the privilege of sitting in a McLaren F1 with one of the men who designed it, unfortunately it wasnt moving.

Ive had a corvette up to 145mph, and probably hit about 150mph on the autobahn in a BMW 528. Id trade both experiences to be back in that McLaren.

A few months ago in my Z06 Vette was by myself had a straight highway up ahead threw her in 4 gear opened it up, faster & faster & fasstter i only had a 1/2 sec to look down going so fast -i actually had to glance several quick times as it felt like i was entering a time warp, the speedo was at 157mph. I swear after less than a minute at that speed after slowing down left me completely exhausted!

RADAR

seen redline in 6th gear on my F4 about a dozen times. indicated 170mph, but supposedly an actual 156mph. still fast as hell for a 600cc engine.

165 in my Dad's 427 Cobra and 150 on an old Ninja 900R I had. I sold the bike a month later knowing I would eventually kill myself.

I rode in a 93 Turbo Supra at 193 mph.......yikes, it was insane.

PS> and I know no one will believe me about this.
I've had mine up to 160 numerous times, but I've only modified the suspension as of yet

200 mph in a Ferrari

too bad I was not driving

120 As fast as my toyota corrolla would go. Nothing beats cruisin thru peoples backyards in a trailer park, going between telephone poles.

175 on gps on my hayabusa....still had some more to go but the rear tire was bouncing off the pavemnt...the guys down the street from me race the 9/10s and been hittin over 227 there on there hayabusas..now that shits fast..

120+ in my 1971 chevelle. Funny thing is is that its hard to tell how fast you're going when the needle dissapears into the dash on those old school sweep guages. And not bad for a 3speed with no overdrive - it just kept wanting more.

My friend was doing 145 in his Honda CBR600F4i on the freeway in San diego and got pulled over. He had priors, went to jail, had to go to a coinstar machine with all my spare change to help bail him out....bikes are dangerous.

I stopped all my crazy driving after I crashed my chevelle, it was a sad day.

well, the 71's went backwards down the road anyway. you know, 4 tail lights and 2 headlights as opposed to 70s and earlier that went the right way ;) j/k

got pics? always loved chevelles. i want a 66 myself.

what'd your chevelle have in it? buddy of mine has a 1970. it's an origonal 396SS body and frame but it has a worked 350 in it. when he had the 4speed in it, he saw the speedo at 120mph in 4th gear at about 4K rpm.

we were going down the highway one day racing a Dodge Ram with the V10. his speedo cable had broken, so we had no clue how fast we were going. however, the tach was between 5000-5500 rpm for about 15 miles. that was scary fast in that car. the engine roared so wonderfully going that fast. the scary thing, however, was his rear-end. it was slightly twisted (he was a dumbass for taking the car up that fast with a bad rear). the rear end was twisted maybe 1- 1 1/2" at the time. every time we hit a little bump on the concrete highway, i could feel the ass end of the car get up and dance a little across the road. he didn't feel it, but i did because i was sitting in the back.

he fried the 4 speed shortly thereafter (he can't drive stick very well, at least not in that car, he was ultra rough on it). cracked the bellhousing on it almost all the way around. he put a 3spd auto in it afterwards and a new rearend. car was still fast as hell, but the gearing in the rear wasn't as good for takeoffs.

Burried my 97 formula 160 plus? Needle kept going (piss drunk)

Burried my moms 92 Acura Legend several times with and without a licence 140 mph + oh yea once in the rain

Got my 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee speedometer to go all the way around once in the rain also

Burried my 87 Supra Turbo onece drunk and bout lost it when this turn all of a sudden flew up 145mph +

I drive on the crazy side most of the time.

I hear ya. My first car was a '79 Trans Am, 6.6 Liter, 413.
Had the "Screaming Chickin" on the hood and everything. We new a buddy of mine's mustang would go 155 so we were both doing about that on the highway out in the country late one night, and we were right next to each other which made it feel even stranger. After we both let off.....we got that adrenaline crash you're talking about. Man ...I miss that car.
-2z-

well I had a '73 beetle I got up to 95 mph.
Other than that my '91 acura legend I got up to 150mph, I usually hold 110mph on the way from Baton Rouge to New Orleans since I hate driving back and forth on the interstate when I have to.

When I was valet parking I drove vettes and the Hot Rod magazine Test Camaro. I still felt the BMW M5 was the fastest, but downtown the cops will get you so I didn't get it out of second gear.

280Km/hr in a tricked out porsche 928 (not driving)

240Km./hr in a Viper Rt/10, with the sales guy yelling at me the whole time. :D

155+ m.p.h in a heavily modified `75 Chevy Monza (built `70 Corvette 350 LT1 motor), was still pulling hard when what little discretion I posessed at the time got the better of me. The tach was reading about 6800 rpm in high gear when I lifted, but the motor would pull to 7500+, which would've been well over 175 mph.

The guy riding shotgun was white as a sheet and shaking like hell when he got outta the car...looking back, I guess I can't blame him. Amazingly enough, we're still friends.

Incredibly stupid on my part....seemed "fun" at the time, but the car had no roll cage, nor did it have tires rated for that kind of speed. FWIW, this took place on a totally deserted 4+ mile stretch of a state route almost 20 years ago.

130 miles per hour; but I had to stop because I was nearing the end of the school playground. Luckily, there were so many children that I never even had to touch my brakes to slow down.

driving like 140. riding about 175.

that was pretty fukkin dumb.

190km/hr in a 87 honda accord I owned,to bad the frame crapped out before I could get it on the road, fast as hell, took off after 80km/hr ,it was stock

anyone remember the story about that guy who strapped 2 rockets to teh side of his impala out in the dessert and ended up with his fingernails buried in the steering wheel? Someone dig up this article... crazy shit.

Was`nt driving but my friend`s 94 Corvette we hit 151 mph coming back from Florida to NJ.

Messed up story... AS soon as we hit 151 we slowed down to normal speed about 60 mph. Exactly 1 minute later the tire blew out! It totally disintegrated. There was only a flat rubber outside of the tire and we were on the rim.

It was a Saturday night and we were driving around in No whereland in Florida looking for a HUGE Vette tire to replace it with. With very little money. We probably had $100 total on us. lol

We got to the first or second gas station and the guy had a used one... sold it to us for $15. We got lucky in that sense AND the fact the tire did`nt blow going 151mph.

in high school i owned a recycled california highway patrol dodge with a 440 magnum
and that year they discontinued the 440 and used the 360
lol what a dog
they used to mail me my speeding tickets
judge was not impressed
could top out at 72 miles an hour in first
and could chirp the tires in any gear
i got up to 141 between sacramento and stockton once
